Repressed. This is the long-awaited return of Black Acre's big gun, and this time he's enlisted the assistance of Alby Daniels. "Pascal's Chorus" opens the door with a strong dose of melancholic house, the pulsing 4x4 and scattershot percussion. "Speak Nuh" delivers a grime-inflected riddim accompanied by ghostly voices. "San'en" features a brave vocal that loiters about woozy drag house groove with skewed pop sensibilities. Finally, "Yesterday's Fall" caps off the EP with soothing melodies that wash over Alby in rude form.

"Polishing off what has been an uber-strong year for Black Acre we have the elusive Fantastic Mr Fox. Recent collaborations and US/UK Tour support with the XX have anticipation building for a fresh dose of FMF's own unique brand of Sweded Soul. Forsaking the more tear-inspiring melodrama of the Sketches EP, FMF's recent excursions in heavily-reduced house have lead him to create his own brand of broken RnB. The Evelyn EP is a kick driven, neon clad slice of lazer cannon soul. Big rhythm sections rollout anthemic clipped snatches of long dead chart bound voices. The soundtrack for a party to soothe a broken heart."

"Peddling his own twisted brand of clockwork garage the elusive & nocturnal Fantastic Mr Fox emerges once more from his lair with a four pack of leftfield dance floor heaters. Sketches: never before has so much damage been achieved with such subtle blows. The microscopic, surgically clipped snares hover deftly over the boom of Ice T's stolen kick drums and bowel churning bass murmurs. Without warning our duvet of womb-insulated bass is replaced by a fairground arpeggio to haunt the dreams of those over 30, cascades of funereal chord progressions further spook and motivate. With psychic timing drums return, bass envelopes and all is well. To soothe the acid tones and percussive kicking of its predecessor, BrickAbrac returns us to the dusty antiquated stop motion world of Mr Fox. Here he favours a skeleton's ribcage to rattle out a creaky and crackling 4x4 riddim, which is contrasted by the sexy Tetris plinky-plonk keys and radioactive neon bass warble. Haunted vocal snatches wrap their spectral gloves around soaring strings uplift."
