"For at least the last couple decades, the cult around The Source Family cult has enjoyed the music of Ya Ho Wa 13, whose nine albums with Father were a major part of the story. Recorded during an eleven-month span during 1973 and '74, pressed on their own Higher Key label and sold in The Source Restaurant for $10 a piece at that time, these recordings continue to fascinate listeners to this day, and have been reprinted multiple times, including a massive box-set version of the whole catalog made in Japan in the mid-1990s. In 2007, the release of Isis Aquarian's book The Source: The Untold Story of Father Yod, Ya Ho Wa 13 and The Source Family, opened the doors on the mysterious and influential doings of The Source Family -- and now the Spring of 2013 sees a definitive documentary film on the subject, entitled The Source Family. For the soundtrack to The Source Family documentary, a selection of material was chosen to include the widest variety of Source Family members, showcasing the talents of many not previously showcased. And so, in addition to Ya Ho Wa 13 members Djin, Sunflower and Octavius, we also hear the contributions of Cinderella, Ahom, Aquariana, Anastasia, Rhythm, Horn, Electron, Zoroaster, Vibration, Pythias, Damian, and Zinaru -- as well as the omnipotent Yahowa himself, Father Yod. Their music ranges from soulful to spiritual to shamanistic, with Father fronting the band on journeys through inner and outer psychosis and bliss. These recordings were intended to further the teachings of Yahowa, and while they certainly do so, what the listener is left with some forty years on, aside from a deeply compelling curiosity, is..."

"Man, our minds were blown by that God and Hair box. When we were given a chance to work with some of the folks from The Source back in 2008, we just said yeah, let's hear more of that craaazy music. First came the never-before-heard tape from Children of the Sixth Root Race, Songs From the Source. Then, Magnificence in the Memory, a vault-diving expedition by NNCK's Dave Nuss credited to Father Yod and the Source Family. Now in the year 2012, rare energies are at play, and the times are calling for another trip into the deep pile of Source Family song-and-dancemusic. With The Thought Adjusters, the focus is on extended rhythms created not only by YaHoWha13 but all the family musicians. The focus is on extended rhythms created in support of Father as he made his teachings, with all the jams integrating both aspects; music and wisdom. Musicians on this record include Pythias, Sunflower, Djin, Octavius, Rhythm, Vibration and Zoraster, with backing vocals from Ahom, Aquariana, Cinderella and Anastasia. Truly, a family vibe can be felt in the recordings here, as impromptu teachings from Father are augmented by improvised riffs which blossom into lengthy mindand- soul-excursions, heavy with communal rock and blistering thoughts from the band and Father. After a brief opening sounding of ritual bells, these four sides are filled to the max with five monolithic jams meant to open your head -- which was the goal of everyday life with The Source Family. Notes explaining the physical and philosophical paths of Father Yod are written by Source Family member, scribe and archivist Isis Aquarian, whose collection contains even more photographs and tapes than are included in this package. With a documentary film on The Source Family making the rounds on the festival circuit this year, we anticipate greater desire for revelation -- not just on Father's whens and wheres and his thirteen wives, but also the beliefs of The Source Family, and how it relates to the rising up of man in the very near future."
