Much-needed reissue of this landmark Larry Young album, recorded just a few years after the notorious Love Cry Want sessions that ultimately caused the downfall of the Nixon administration. "By the time Larry Young hit the studio with group Fuel to track this 1975 release he was already a seasoned jazz pro despite being in his 30s (young for jazz cat). His organ work in the 50s with Jimmy Forrest, Tommy Turrentine, Hank Mobley and others lead to being signed to Prestige as a leader and a string of incredible projects for both the Prestige and Blue Note labels throughout the 60s. His work with Tony Williams Lifetime on the 1969 album Emergency set the stage for the fusion movement even ahead of that genre's landmark release Bitches Brew (where he appeared with Miles). By the 1975 Young was signed to Arista and ready to fire up a full on 70s style jazz fusion assault with his group Fuel. The sessions found Young behind the boards as producer and behind the keyboards as a player, utilizing everything from a Mini Moog to a Hammond B3, a Fender Rhodes to a traditional acoustic piano. The resulting project is thoroughly funky and often called the absolute best of his post-Blue Note recordings. Get On Down is pleased to put this classic, remastered from the original sessions, in front of a new generation of listeners hungry for a solid groove."

Exact repro of this 1962 release, an early session by organist Larry Young, who restructured the DNA of the jazz organ on his classic Unity album, as well as recordings with Miles Davis (on Bitches Brew), Tony Williams on Lifetime. Young's organ shook the foundation of the Nixon Whitehouse on the legendary Love Cry Want LP (reissued by Weird Forest). Featuring Thornel Schwartz (guitar), Bill Leslie (tenor sax) and Jimmy Smith (drums).

Exact repro reissue, originally released in 1968. Featuring altoist Byard Lancaster, tenor saxophonist Herbert Morgan, guitarist George Benson, and drummer Eddie Gladden, with Athea Young guesting on vocals on "My Funny Valentine." Still as tied to the groove as on his classic Unity album, Young is in an explorative phase with the heavy grooves of the title track and "The Infant" and the bossafied funk of "The Cradle" and "Call Me."

Exact repro reissue, originally released in 1967. "For this interesting set, organist Larry Young (the first musician on his instrument to really move beyond Jimmy Smith's soul-jazz into the avant-garde) mostly utilized lesser-known musicians from the Newark, NJ, area: Tyrone Washington and Herbert Morgan on tenors, flugelhornist Hank White, guitarist Eddie Wright, drummer Eddie Gladden, and Stacey Edwards on congas. 'Major Affair' is an organ-drums duet and Larry's wife Althea Young does a haunting version of 'Wild Is the Wind,' while the other four selections use all of the horns. The adventurous music is sometimes quite intense but also grooves in its own eccentric way, offering listeners a very fresh sound on organ." -- All Music

Grey area exact repro, originally released on Perception in 1973. A welcome reissue of this pure underground jazz classic from Newark, NJ's own Larry Young. He's in 'out' mode here, putting aside his more well-known styles (as heard on his classic Blue Note LP Unity) and laying down some Arkestra-style jamming alongside the shredding of James Blood Ulmer and some other underground cats. A killer melting of funky, cosmic, Eastern, Afro and free music vibes.
