"When African Head Charge released their fourth album Off The Beaten Track in 1986, it was a newly remade ensemble. Lead by percussionist Bonjo Iyabinghi Noah, the band included live drums, melodica, keyboards and bass backed by samples and tape loops. In 1986, the sampler was a new toy; the use of it here is so fresh and progressive that the resulting album still sounds modern and innovative today. When it was released, it sounded like nothing else around at the time -- the combination of fat beats, dub, psychedelia and ethnic chants was to provide the template which many lesser lights attempted to emulate over the ensuing years. Off The Beaten Track is both a seminal recording in the use of sound-bite technology and an excellent example of the integration of live instrumentation and programmed music. Produced by Adrian Sherwood and featuring Bonjo Iyabingho Noah, Eskimo, A.V.Scott, Skip McDonald, Dr. Pablo, and Jah Wobble. Originally released as ON-U LP40 in 1986. This edition features previously unreleased bonus track 'Good Things.'"

"Voodoo Of The Godsent is the first new recording in five years from African Head Charge, and marks the beginning of an extensive series of new releases and classic reissues celebrating the 30th Anniversary of On-U Sound. This is their first release since 2005's Visions Of A Psychedelic Africa and finds Bonjo once again joining forces with long time On-U stable-mates Skip McDonald, Crocodile, and the Crispy Horns, together with contributions from legendary bassist George Oban, Dancehall pioneer Jazzwad and electronic wizard Adamski. All the elements of a classic African Head Charge album are present; a triumphant mix of dub, psychedelia, trance, afro and tribal rhythms that have given them their own unique place in contemporary music."

"Led by percussionist Bonjo Iyabinghi Noah, African Head Charge formed in the early 80s and, under a shifting lineup, have released seven albums of Afrocentric dub psychedelia, most of which have been produced by Adrian Sherwood and released on his On-U Sound label. As a precursor to the imminent release of their long-awaited album Vision Of A Psychedelic Africa, AHC and On-U present a new reissue of Songs Of Praise, which was originally released in 1991 and has been out of print for the better part of five years. Regarded by many as the band's crowning moment, Songs Of Praise was always one of On-U's best and most consistent selling titles, and remains as much in demand today as when it first appeared."
