OVM 216EP
|
Ovum presents a remix EP from Agaric's Who Made Up The Rules (OVM 9011CD). Josh Wink is onboard to remix the title track -- this is vintage Wink, pumping and building as only Josh can. On the B-side Axel Boman takes the hypnotic "Get Off My Mind" and makes it a funky house jam. Two amazing remixes of two incredible tracks that should be heard throughout the summer season and beyond.

Patrik Skoog is one of the most interesting and inspired veteran techno and house producers from Sweden. He has released on his own We Are label, Drumcode, Truesoul, Mad Eye, Raum...Musik, Sunset Diskos, Nummer, Kontra Musik, Treibstoff and *Liebe Detail. He is a technical DJ with a magical sense for momentum and selection, and his stellar live sets are one of the few that can rock a crowd throughout its duration.

Patrik Skoog isn't only one of the youngest veteran techno and house producers from Sweden, he's also one of the most interesting and inspired. Though incredibly versatile, the sustained energy in his sets and productions are equally exceptional. In the last two years, Agaric established the Club Tracks 10" series on his label We Are. Besides his own stellar productions, collaborations with close friends Shonky, Walker Bernard, Ed Davenport, and Beaner have also graced the Club Tracks series. International support came from leading DJs like Richie Hawtin, Seth Troxler, Loco Dice, Ben Klock, Luciano, Joris Voorn, Magda, Laurent Garnier, Sven Väth, and Adam Beyer. Above all, his productions were championed by Josh Wink, who went on to sign his album debut to his Ovum imprint. After more than 100 vinyl releases, Patrik Skoog can look back at quite a history: his harder techno project Headroom on his label Native Diffusion, releases on Synewave, Loop, and many more long-forgotten underground labels in the '90s and early 2000s left his first mark for those who know. From 2005 on, he evolved into his deeper Agaric project, with releases on his internationally-celebrated We Are label, Adam Beyer's Drumcode, Truesoul & Mad Eye, Raum...Musik, Sunset Diskos, Nummer, Kontra Musik, Treibstoff and Liebe*Detail. As a technical DJ with a magical sense for momentum and selection, he's been playing worldwide for more than 15 years, while his equally as stellar live-sets are one of the few that can rock a crowd throughout its duration. Relocating to Berlin in 2007, he quickly established himself as a celebrated constant inspiration, be it for extended Bar25 after-hour sets, or club nights in Watergate, Arena, and Berghain's Panoramabar, where he holds his We Are label nights.

SUNSET 009EP

Sunset Diskos is back with another killer EP from Agaric, this time with a remix by no less than Camea. "Come Below" is a sneaky funk bomb, slowly building and building with a deep and punchy groove. "No One Knows" is like a rattlesnake on acid, twisting and twisting, with a massive and poisonous groove building up and up. Camea takes the track to more spooky territories, perfect for massive sound systems.

"Time is up for the last Raum release in 2007 and once again it is a debut on our label. Agaric also known as Patrik Skoog originally hails from Sweden. Currently he is residing in Berlin from where he is also running his label called We Are. Before that Patrik also has released some music on such labels as Drumcode or Nummer for example. The two featured tracks on his Raum release are also a bit more techno related and definitely show his production skills as their sound is very good. 'Goose Step,' as one can tell quite easily from it's name, salutes all the goosestep ravers in this world. It is a peaktime bomb that will definitely cause some serious trouble if being played on a bigger floor. The B side track 'C'est What' is a bit more subtle and can be used in far more different situations. In clubs of different sizes as well as for the late shift this track is guaranteed to rock da house."

"We Are needs no introduction. The highly successful colored 10" series which was kick started by Sweden's mastermind Agaric, finally presents a new pressing. Volume 8 again comes with two mind-blowing, stripped down techno productions. These babies will take you for a long and pleasant ride. Along the way you are fed with vibrating bass, velvet bass drum and carefully selected high."

"Deep and funky minimal techno label from Mikael Stavöstrand. Presents its third release with a taste of the man of the moment, Agaric. Two fat originals on the A-side and an amazing remix by Jay Haze on the flip, which will make the floors crazy. Jay Haze's take on 'No More No Less,' 'Still Pimpin... East Berlin Style,' is for sure the club pumper on this one although all tracks will for sure be heard on the floors . Jay takes the playfulness and minimal groove from the original and builds and builds into a pure club monster."

"Producer Agaric alias Patrik Skoog is a techno veteran who released his first tracks already back in '98. During the years he has grown into a mature and skilled producer, which has brought him up to his most recent alias. With his own interpretation of minimalism, Agaric is the choice of the moment...generating amounts of positive response and support from world renowned DJs like Richie Hawtin, Villalobos and Michael Mayer. The EP The World Is Asleep is a conscious step away from the over exploited minimal scene. The A-side and the track 'Over the Hill' instead offers a deep, reverb drenched and soulful techno classic. This is a track that flirts more with Detroit than Chicago but still there is something in the groove that makes it irresistibly funky. The B-side and the track 'The Outside' starts off with a short Jack Nicholson sample from the classic '60s movie Easy Rider. What follows is a slow bass cord that reminds more of the drone/doom group Sunn O))) than of techno music."

TREIB 063EP

"The king of hopping and mastermind of the nicely colored 10" releases on We Are label is Agaric who is now honoring Treibstoff with his tickling printer cartridge funk live from the Playroom. Curiously bustling about and groovily bubbling like teddy bears on magic mushrooms, the tracks are making their way through the local dancefloor scene. The sound is always straight to the point, yet never missing this certain childlike amazement in a psychedelically liberated state of mind. The chirpy chords and fizzling hi-hats, the delicious rolling bass, the fresh and funky beats that feel like having a spruce needles foot bath and which are filleted, crumbed and gently roasted and then delicately seasoned to taste and nicely garnished, make Agaric a most promising, unusual and unique young artist. Altogether, this is another proof that techno music is a further development of jazz: not this Dixie jazz from the outmoded teacher's lounge, but a fat, excessive jazz straight from the rough streets of lost continents."
