THRONE 023EP
|
AKA JK (aka Jonathan Kreinik, New York producer and live sound engineer for The Rapture) presents 2600 2600, the title of which may or may not reference a famous analog synthesizer. Like Kreinik's best production and engineering work, "2600 2600" locates the precarious divide between refined pop brilliance and total dancefloor mayhem. On remix duties, Shit Robot brings his signature minimal disco-house touch to the table, and John Selway presents a more straightforward dancefloor approach. Mugwump's "Italo Broadcast" version includes a re-tweaked bassline and warped-and-gauzed vocals.

AKA JK is Jonathan Kreinik aka Limozine Unlimited aka Tanline (1999-2002) -- a NYC-based musician, producer, engineer, DJ, remixer, and photographer. He has engineered or produced records by Trans Am, !!!, Out Hud, etc., and toured behind the mixing console with The Rapture, Le Tigre, LCD Soundsystem, and more. Someone Out There is a reflection of years in basements with sequencers and most importantly, his long-standing friendship with the Rapture boys, culminating in this Vito Roccoforte-produced stinger. Remixes by Kim, Runaway, and Neurotic Drum Band.
