2012 warehouse find of some final copies of this 2007 reissue. The second Monolake record, originally released in 1999, now newly digitally remastered. Interstate offers a lovely bouquet of deep flowery textures, floating around complex grooves, embedded in all sorts of atmospheric background noises and field recordings. Interstate is light and summery, breathing the warm air of happiness and its musical density and abundance makes it an outstanding release even ten years later. The CD has been out of print for a couple of years and this re-release is housed in a newly-designed digipack and with a new mastering. The mastering, executed with outstanding dedication by Rashad Becker, is more than just a technical process, it is an aesthetic statement. While the album itself is very digital and clean, the new mastering has been done entirely with selected analog equipment, resulting in a crunchier, darker and warmer atmosphere.
