"Issued in 1978 without any mention of Moby Grape anywhere (no pictures either), it was a record that fell into the bins because it was released by a small label with no promotion. This features all the original Grape guitarists together again for 'Must Be Goin' Now Dear,' a new Skip Spence track, and was recorded some 10 years after he left the band (discounting the reunion in 1971). Also featuring Cornelius Bumpus and John Oxendine on drums. The record sounds part studio, part warm-up, some live." Also: part asleep, but that goes without saying for any kind of late 70s blues project. The one Skip Spence track is sorta worth it for completists.

"An obscure and rare record from this folk act led by James Harpham, (who plays the recorder, an ancient flute-like instrument). A Handful Of Pleasant Delites was originally released by Middle Earth in 1969 -- the same label as Arcanum and Writing On The Wall -- and featured an interesting blend of acoustic folk, baroque medleys, jazz improvisations and experimental music constantly shifting from pastoral atmospheres to urban neurosis. The original issue has now reached sky high prices so this reissue -- now available also on CD -- will please all who have been looking for this title for many years."

"Akarma is proud to bring you this very special CD & DVD release of this live Toad performance recorded in Switzerland in 1973 featuring Vic Vergeat. A true master of the six-string, Vergeat never compromised his love for music always keeping in that particular style of blues rock made famous by bands like Cream, Free, Led Zeppelin, etc. This veritable 'best of' track listing finds Vergeat in top form thanks in no small part to his stellar rhythm section. The DVD not only includes the full live concert, but also documents a few other interesting moments in the life of this Swiss band." Akarma doesn't bother to note it, but the DVD is PAL-format only, for Europe.

"Authors of one self-titled album dated 1971 Samurai were a British band risen from the still smoldering ashes of Web (just after the release of their third and best LP). The tracks found here represent the best of what British jazz rock has to offer -- a sort of King Crimson meets Blodwyn Pig. Notable also for their excellent instrumentals, thanks in part to the help of sax men Don Fay and Tony Roberts. Dale Lawson would soon go on to form Greenslade with Dave Greenslade of Colosseum."

"Recorded in 1968, this self title debut by one of the most interesting garage psych bands of the US underground scene was originally turned down by major record labels and this caused Brain Police's disbanding. Akarma is proud to add this new CD reissue to the previously released vinyl version to fully revive the freshness of the San Diego based psychedelic group. Includes an interesting biography of the band."

"Christine Harwood's debut LP for the obscure British 'Birth' Label was the only record she ever made. No singles were ever released and it was seldom heard beyond these shores -- the making of a record collector's holy grail. Alongside the obscure Vashti Bunyan LP and Julie Covington's early solo LP, Nice to Meet Miss Christine remains one of the most sought after English female folk records ever released. You just have to listen to her cover of CSN&Y's 'Wooden Ships' to realize why. Miss Christine's naked vocals ride a rock-solid back beat with clavinet funk and a wash of luscious strings sending you into a trance-like state."

"This neatly packaged box set summarizes the greatness of blues and its gradual transformation from the almost exclusively African American form of musical expression of the Thirties into a broader genre and treasure of the entire American heritage. This so called 'broadening process' has as one of its masterminds Sam Phillips of Sun Studios, who mastered the evolution of blues and hillbilly while fusing into rock'n'roll (see Elvis Presley's early tunes included in this collection). The Sun Studios project featured many of the artists that, beginning in the 1950's, contributed to the evolution of blues, such as Johnny Cash, Rufus Thomas, Little Walter, Doctor Ross, James Cotton, Little Milton and many others. 78 tracks for your aural pleasure."

"Today the native San Franciscoan Don Robertson is an improbable 60 year-old multi-instrumentalist and new age composer, but back in 1969 when this album was released on Limelight (a subsidiary of Mercury) he was the obscure and uncontested master of 'eastern psychedelia'. In the mid-sixties, like many of his peers, Robertson began experimenting with non-western music, which led him to record the extraordinary Dawn in 1969. Here, in addition to piano, Robertson plays guitar, harp and various traditional instruments, such as the tablas and the jaltarang. The result is a surprising and engaging mix of eastern-influenced jazz, psych rock, and classical music. Gatefold sleeve with biography and archival photos provided by Don Robertson himself."

"Originally released in 1968 by K.B. Artists (the original demo tape was recorded on a primitive 4-track machine and the album was pressed for promo use only)... The Brain Police were one of San Diego's most popular '60s groups and their unique combination of pop songs and heavy rock created a remarkable document of American rock's transitionary period between flower-power and the guitar-led heavy rock that dominated the scene in 1969. Original artwork. 180 gram vinyl."
