Orange vinyl. "The Jamaican reggae group The Revolutionaries were set up in 1975 as the house band of the Channel One Studios. With Sly Dunbar on drums and Bertram 'Ranchie' McLean on bass, The Revolutionaries created the new 'rockers' reggae style that would change the whole Jamaican sound. Recorded at the Channel One studios, the 1979 album Outlaw Dub was written and produced by Linval Thompson."

"A revolutionary album full of experimentation and cross-fertilization with a sound unlike that of any other tropical record before or after, which could only have come from the Caribbean region of Colombia and the fertile mind of the band's leader, Alfredo GutiĂ©rrez El Rebelde del AcordeĂłn. What makes this record unique and a highly sought-after collector's piece among DJs and aficionados of Colombian music are the innovative arrangements (by GutiĂ©rrez and his saxophone-playing friends Nacor BarĂłn GarcĂ©s and Demetrio 'Pipe' GuarĂn) that mix a sax section with electric organ, piano and accordion, and the fact that it contains a killer version of Javier Vázquez's hard salsa tune 'Esa Mulata' as well as salsa versions of GutiĂ©rrez's earlier vallenato hits 'Los Carasucias' and 'Bajo El Palo 'E Mango'. In addition, there is an interesting hybrid between the boogaloo and the joropo ('La Mezcla' by pianist Edel Manrique) and a fun cover of Dominican accordionist Angel Viloria's 1950 gem 'Yo BailĂ© Con Josefina' plus another hardcore salsa burner ('Salsa De Monte Adentro') and a flamenco/salsa hybrid ('Caribe'), both written by Poli MartĂnez, who used to sing with Climaco Sarmiento. The record kicks off with some local costeño flavor with the paseo 'PerdĂłname Leandro' and on side two the porro 'Toro Barcino'. The album cover, though tongue in cheek, must have also caused a stir, as it calls to mind Cuban revolutionaries and combines images of violence and music in a provocatively satirical way." --Pablo Yglesias, aka DJ Bongohead Presented in facsimile artwork and pressed on 180 gram vinyl.

IDEAL 303LP
|
Black vinyl version. EVOL shuts the game down with Ideal Acid, a killer 20-minute rinse through 303 acid cherries pitted and sequenced, tweak-for-tweak, into the wildest acid track ever made. No hype, this record is the maddest belter in EVOL's extensive catalog, taking their obsession with Roland's squelchy grey box to an ultimate, logical conclusion that leaves dancefloors turned utterly inside-out and begging for track ID's. Produced in Barcelona and further product tested between Stockholm and Manchester, Ideal Acid is the kind of idea that has been floated in raves, smoking areas, and afterparties for the past 20 years but has never been executed with such precise method and inexorable effect, until now. Taking way too many classics to mention, EVOL modulates their mutual variable, the Roland TB-303 bass line, in a cascade of liquified riffs that last anywhere between one beat and a few bars before shifting to the next pattern, and so forth. The cumulative effect of elastic undulation is mind-bending and body-jacking in the extreme, yet uncompromisingly crafted at the immediate service of the rave. It feels as though much of EVOL's practice to date, from mixes for FACT and Reel Torque, to their experimental objetcs for Alku and blasts for Presto!?, Diagonal, and BUS have been leading to this point: the ultimate acid rave tool. Mastered and cut to vinyl at Dubplates & Mastering, Berlin.

LOGOS7E1 052LP
|
LP version. 180 gram vinyl. Occultation present a reissue of Revolutionary Army Of The Infant Jesus's second album Mirror, originally released in 1991. Mirror was originally a CD-only release on Probe Plus. Mirror is possibly RAIJ's most diverse and eclectic collection. In addition to their signature blend of ethereal beauty and stark brutalism, the album burrows deep into the European psyche with multiple musical, literary, and spiritual allusions. The samples and field recordings on the album include dialogue from classic experimental cinema, medieval Spanish poets, and the dying strains of Albanian and East German propaganda broadcasts. Occultation's decision to re-release Mirror comes after the commercial and critical success of Beauty Will Save the World (LOGOS7DF 042CD/LP, 2015) and a resurgence of interest in the work of the Liverpool-based collective who continue to defy musical categorization. New artwork featuring a painting by Liverpool-based artist, filmmaker, and photographer Paul Mellor. It depicts the opening frame of the film Mirror, by RAIJ's longstanding muse Andrei Tarkovsky. Leslie Hampson on the reissue: "To come back to Mirror after so long, it almost feels like a new release. We are also delighted that through our collaboration with Occultation we are in dialogue with a different and more diverse audience." CD version includes two bonus tracks from their 1992 EP Liturgie Pour La Fin Du Temps.

The incessant brain bogglers Evol present the nerve-gnawing acid pointillism of Right Frankfurt. Equivalent to an intravenous dose of acidic synthesis, Right Frankfurt nods to one of techno's most efficient power centers with a PCP-on-Modafinil-strength reduction and concentration of early industrial techno tropes with their skull-cracking beats. If you appreciate the lissome fluidity of a strong acid or synth lead, you will relish the piece's tumultuous, microtonal variations, see-sawing up/down and around the frequency scale in highly visual knots that are perhaps best experienced in synch with the strobes of their live show.

One of the most popular tracks from 2015's Survival of the Fittest LP (NUP 002LP) finally gets a single release and remix treatment from Reggae Roast's Vibration Lab. Taking the track in a deeper, more digital direction, the veteran duo have crafted a classic slice of modern dancehall, reminiscent of the legendary sounds of Gussie P. and that timeless '90s vibe. Flip it over for a dubwise version.

Featuring killer dubs to some of Germain's best productions of the time, including tracks by roots harmony legends Cultural Roots. BUS 017A-EP
|
This offering of deconstructed, temporal psychedelia from EVOL is a rendition of the "time-value-less" piece "Opus 17a" by Hanne Darboven. Sequenced by Guy Birkin and executed through the singular "Rave Synthesis" of Roc Jiménez de Cisneros and Stephen Sharp, this recording is split into two epically time-disrupted pieces of extreme computer music that run off infinitely as locked grooves on each side. Noel Summerville's mastering has skillfully harnessed EVOL's solid "hoover" sound for optimal "as loud as possible" playback. Previous EVOL releases have been on Editions Mego, Diagonal, Presto!?, Alku, Entr'acte, iDEAL, and more.

LOGOS7DF 043LP
|
Following the 2015 release of the first album by Revolutionary Army of the Infant Jesus since 1990 (Beauty Will Save the World (LOGOS7DF 042LP)), the band's 1987 debut, The Gift of Tears, is now available for the first time since its original release. One of the most overlooked releases to come out of the experimental music scene in mid-'80s England, The Gift of Tears has remained largely unknown, albeit highly sought-after in collectors' circles. Originally released on the Probe Plus label in 1987, it remains an undeniably essential archetype of performance art set to music. The Liverpool outfit built their reputation on their extraordinary immersive multimedia performances, which combined multiple layers of visual imagery with elements of ritual, enigmatic samples, field recordings, and mesmeric live music, later drawing comparisons to the apocalyptic folk of Current 93. RAIJ have mainly avoided interviews or media attention, which has elevated the mystery surrounding the band, its origin, and subsequent cult following. To this day, RAIJ have continued to let their music do the talking. There is something to be said for a band that created an album so enigmatic yet familiar that, with time, still proves that beauty truly never fades. Revised artwork, includes insert; limited edition of 1000 copies.

Limited restock. Black Friday RSD 2015 release. "First ever reissue of this classic Channel 1 material. Housed in a two color silk screened jacket with an 18" x 24" poster of the iconic cover art. Revolutionaries Sounds Vol. 2 is the stellar 1979 follow up to the groundbreaking 1976 self-titled first volume. The Revolutionaries were the house band of Channel 1 studios, and their style defined the sound of reggae in the second half of the 1970's. The band was a who's who of the top players of the decade, featuring the core unit of Sly Dunbar, Robbie Shakespeare, Ranchie McLean and Rad Bryan. Augmented by a revolving cast of the top hornsmen, keyboard/organ players and percussionists, The Revolutionaries not only backed the in-house production output of their 'home base' studio of Channel 1, but countless other productions done by producers renting the studio. The 1976 first volume released in Jamaica was an instrumental affair, with the iconic Che Guevara image by Ras Daniel Heartman on the cover complimenting the militant sounds contained on the album. For this 1979 follow-up originally released in the UK, Che again adorns the album, with the tracks being a mixture of classic instrumentals recorded at various points in the few preceding years, and then previously unreleased dubs to some of the studio's hardest original rhythms, such as Alton Ellis' 'Tell Me' and the Enforcer's 'Ride on Marcus.' Previous to this album, some of these tracks had been coveted dubplates on the sound system scene of the day. Reissued for the first time ever, this is a fantastic touchstone for fans of '70s roots reggae, and with a terrific selection of tunes that should satisfy the hardcore roots fans, serious dub heads and across-the-board reggae fans just the same."

One of music's most elusive and enigmatic acts lifts the veil (a fraction) to present Beauty Will Save the World. Since forming in the mid-1980s, the reclusive Revolutionary Army of the Infant Jesus have confounded musical classification and studiously declined every invitation to explain their unique form of musical and artistic experimentation. Initially, the Liverpool outfit built their reputation on their extraordinary immersive multimedia performances, which combined multiple layers of visual imagery with elements of ritual, enigmatic samples, field recordings, and mesmeric live music. Their cult status was further reinforced with the release of the now-much-sought-after two studio albums The Gift of Tears (1987) and Mirror (1990) and two EP collections, Liturgie pour la Fin du Temps (1992) and Paradis (1995). Now, in 2015, the appearance of a new RAIJ album and the apparent relaxation of their strict vow of silence are generating predictable excitement and expectancy. Beauty Will Save the World does not disappoint. RAIJ's intoxicating mix of ethereal beauty, dazzling soundscapes, and oblique mystery reach new levels of intensity and subtlety. The album title -- a quotation from Russian novelist Fyodor Dostoevsky -- is one of the many literary, cinematic, and spiritual references underpinning RAIJ's unexpected comeback. Founding members Paul Boyce, Jon Egan, and Leslie Hampson, joined by a fresh wave of collaborators, have crafted an album of unique beauty and originality. Prolonged silence seems to have deepened rather than dimmed their creative impulse. As ever, it is the breadth of musical genres, cultural references, borrowings, and retrieved sounds that defines the RAIJ aesthetic, but there is also a more consistently meditative and melodic strain that underpins the album's integrity and purpose. In a rare insight into the RAIJ's creative method, Jon Egan explains, "Although our work takes elements and inspiration from many disparate sources we have never viewed it as deconstruction. We are looking for the thread that connects every manifestation of beauty, however fragile, transitory and seemingly accidental." "There is renewed interest and appreciation of our music and that's great," says Leslie Hampson. "We have never tried to cultivate obscurity or anonymity, we simply wanted to avoid having to explain and justify a creative process that isn't necessarily premeditated. Isn't it enough to listen to and experience it?" CD includes one extra track.

"Killer and rare late '70s dub LP, which is in fact the dub companion to I Roy's Musical Shark Attack LP. If you know Channel 1 albums, then you know that LP is loaded with the hardest late '70s Channel 1 roots rhythms. What most people don't know however, is that I Roy's album was actually voiced over this dub LP, as it was completed and ready before Channel set about making a new I Roy album. This is one fantastic dub LP, now properly issued, direct from master tape, in a newly designed jacket made to match the I Roy album, a companion piece in design and music. Eleven killer slices of Revolutionaries dub from 29 Maxfield Avenue, this is a Musical Dub Attack!"

Arch propagators of "computer music for hooligans" EVOL (Entr'acte, Mego, Presto!?, Diskono, Scarcelight, fals.ch, ALKU), with their hardcore aesthetic and sense of absurdity, have long been a key influence on Diagonal and Powell's DJ sets; the label now releases EVOL's two-part, 20-minute "Flapper That." The A-side writhes and morphs with hypernatural sensuality to explore sinuous integers of an acidic waveform, contorting convulsive digiteridooz into bendy, wild pitching bleeps and gabber-kick staccato. The second side then smears the same battery tang timbre into a pulsating, viscous bass drone with brain-melting rave tones sustaining the intensity at visceral degrees.
