"Manchester's Gnod and New York's White Hills stand as titans of psychedelic and space rock. Together they bend the very notions of what rock can do, seemingly suspending our sense of time. Their alchemical chemistry and a fateful session at the Dropout Studio in Camberwell gave rise to the legendary, ongoing series of records under the moniker Drop Out. The records became an influential and sprawling series of extended pieces that remain touchstones of contemporary psychedelia. Having been called 'absolutely essential,' 'best I have heard -- ever,' 'A masterpiece,' the Drop Out series finally gets its definitive edition. Drop Out III is a wholly new iteration of Gnod and White Hills' collaboration, the 'director's cut,' if you will. Drop Out III is replete with sounds recorded in the 'Drop Out era' that have never been heard before. The album features a cornucopia of expanded versions of essential songs complete with new arrangements, mixes, and instrumentation. Classics like 'Run-A-Round' and the eponymous 'Drop Out' maintain their motorik drive and fizzing melodies with a new shine. The set also features a full LP of pieces never before included on vinyl, including the beautifully serene 'Air Streams' in its original droning arc. The album comes with a download of a full album's worth of bonus material, all crafted around the Drop Out era. White Hills' 'Decorating Time' showcases the depth of the band's subtlety, rich with minute turns and a twist of psychedelic ambience. 'Nothing NEU! Under the Sky' captures the invigorating pulse and dynamics of Gnod's live performances. Together, this expansive body of work epitomizes the sense of possibility each band exudes, and the potency of their expertly crafted brand of Transatlantic psychedelia. 15 years after the series began, Drop Out III is an essential album for lovers of contemporary psychedelic rock, a testament to the power of this collaboration."
"Gnod have been one of the constants, part of our sonic firmament...one of our most cherished groups." --The Quietus
"White Hills' nods to giants like Hawkwind, but their scope is wide and their execution is steely and precise" --Pitchfork

Nottingham duo Rattle's third album Encircle sees the duo expand their unique experiments in rhythm, meter and tension. Rattle are Katharine Eira Brown and Theresa Wrigley, formed in 2011 after meeting on the live circuit whilst both playing in other bands. Katharine was a guitarist who had recently started playing drums in the band Kogumaza, whilst Theresa was the drummer in Nottingham band Fists. Rattle have honed the four songs that make up Encircle by playing them live over the last few years, adapting and stretching them into endlessly inventive new shapes, playing with the concept of time and expectation. Encircle was recorded at Foel Studios, Wales, produced and mixed by Mark Jasper, and mastered at Liminal Audio by Shaun Crook. The stunningly colorful artwork was created by Martha Glazzard, who was also responsible for Rattle's other mesmeric covers. With Encircle Rattle have grown again, the songs alive with elemental power. They build-up and disintegrate, existing in two places at once, embracing the nuance, tracing the circle's edge. These are modes of song as pure gesture and eternal imagination, refined in mirrors after midnight. Rattle has performed at The Barbican, London and toured the UK with Animal Collective and Thurston Moore Group and Europe with The Julie Ruin and Protomartyr, and performed with Hot Snakes, Bill Orcutt Quartet, and Codeine. Also available on black (UTR 169LP) and pink color vinyl (UTR 169X-LP).

LP version. The Loft notched up an impressive list of firsts for Creation Records' artists back in the mid-'80s. First Creation band on TV, first to hit the top of the indie singles chart, first to be invited on to a major UK tour and first Creation band to record a coveted BBC radio session -- for Janice Long's Radio One show in 1984. Then they split up. Since that infamous onstage tragedy; splitting up mid-song, at the Hammersmith Palais in front of 3,000 people when on the verge of Big Time indie greatness, the band has reunited. Just as their status as one of the UK's most influential guitar bands of the '80s continues to grow and to influence a host of younger artists, and thirty-nine years after that acrimonious split, it seemed the time was right to record their debut album. After a sell-out show at London's MOTH club and their heralded appearance at the Glas-Goes Pop festival, the group was invited by BBC 6 Music's Riley & Coe to record its fourth BBC session, at Maida Vale's famous Studio 4. Within six months the session was rush released by Precious Recordings of London on glorious ten inch vinyl. Enter Hamburg based, Tapete Records, who, hearing rumors about new Loft material, snapped up the album and signed the band without hearing a single note. The ten song collection, Everything Changes, Everything Stays The Same was recorded in Hackney in August and produced by Dexys' Sean Read with the original Loft line up of Pete Astor (guitar /vocals) Andy Strickland (guitar), Bill Prince (bass) and Dave Morgan (drums).

RELEASE DATE: 3/7/2025
LP version. Third album from Sheffield folk artist blending traditional songs and original compositions to remarkable effect. 180gram heavyweight black vinyl with download code and gatefold sleeve. On his new album Wasteland, Jim Ghedi has created something huge. Intense, brooding, bold, at times apocalyptic, and remarkably vast. A profoundly bold sonic statement that is some of the most rich, far-reaching and ambitious work that Ghedi has created to date -- pushing the boundaries of what folk music can be. Recorded over two years at Tesla Studios in Sheffield, with David Glover engineering and producing, it also features a wide cast of musicians such as David Grubb (fiddle), Daniel Bridgwood-Hill (fiddle), Neal Heppleston (bass), Joe Danks (drums), Dean Honer from I Monster (synths), Cormac MacDiarmada from Lankum (vocals), Ruth Clinton from Landless (vocals), and Amelia Baker from Cinder Well (vocals). Wasteland is a record that is unafraid to plunge into the darkness of the modern world and embrace the weirder, edgier and more unnerving moments that come from doing so. It is an album that captures all the enormity of life from the micro to the macro, zooming in on the personal as well reflecting on broader societal issues. As with previous albums, such as 2018's A Hymn for Ancient Land and 2021's In the Furrows of Common Place, Ghedi uses traditional folk songs as a means to explore contemporary issues via modern and experimentally-leaning music. Lead single "Wasteland" is a stunning piece of work that while rooted in an environment being corrupted and broken. The decision to incorporate more fuller sounds, such as electric guitar and huge drums, results in a notable shift and evolution in tone for Ghedi. What Ghedi has done in creating his masterpiece is construct a remarkable space where deeply intimate and personal feelings coexist with reflections on environment, place and society, while also interweaving historical context via traditional songs. Wasteland is as much of a world to explore and exist in as much as it is an album, with Ghedi carving out his distinctly unique sonic language and voice to explore that singular environment.

"Don't look up! Whistle from Above is David Grubbs' first Drag City release in over a decade and his first-ever instrumental album for the label. The suspiciously youthful Grubbs is four decades into his career, with former bands including Gastr del Sol, Squirrel Bait, and Bastro, along with a wild ride of collaborators including Bitch Magnet, Richard Buckner, Codeine, Tony Conrad, The Red Krayola, Royal Trux, Dirty Three, Edith Frost, Mats Gustafsson, Susan Howe, Will Oldham, Stefano Pilia, Taku Unami, The Underflow, Ryley Walker, Jan St. Werner, and The Wingdale Community Singers. If all that doesn't imply 'Trying something different,' what ever will? Whistle from Above is the first solo collection David's released since 2017's Creep Mission. During the 2020 shutdown, David played what he precisely quantified as 'a shit-ton of guitar,' more than he could recall playing ever previously. Reinvigorated by this period of enforced woodshedding, he produced a series of new pieces, mostly for guitar, but also a piano composition and an exceptionally eerie bit of musique concrète. These seemed to imply a solo set that would tour marvelously when the time was right again. Meanwhile, David was reconnecting with the Gastr del Sol archive, as a new collection of old performances was being prepared from extensive archival material. The duo magic of that storied collaboration (released in 2024 as We Have Dozens of Titles) left David hungry to play in this format again -- as he had recently with Loren Connors, Alan Courtis, Manuel Mota, and Liam Keenan. These duo experiences showed David the path forward to complete this new solo material. Thus he sought out collaborations with folks he's called 'some of the musicians whom I adore most on the planet' -- Rhodri Davies, Andrea Belfi, Nikos Veliotis, Nate Wooley, and Cleek Schrey -- and their stunning contributions flesh out Grubbs' innate, deeply person brand of minimalism. Whistle from Above is a colorful, compulsive set of instrumental pieces in which David and his chosen collaborators interact amid the steady roll of an expansive landscape based in the hypnosis of David's immediately recognizable guitar style. Throughout the album, the listener may recall some places visited over the years, but will find them -- as David and his traveling companions have as well -- changed again, reactivated in a new light."

"After a near-total silence of twenty years, Edith Frost is back again, and in full bloom with In Space. Her first new record since 2005's It's a Game is just in time -- the world needs Edith's voice back in the conversation. It seems Edith needed something, too: from the notebooks of her long hiatus, a line like 'I say too much/I wait too long/I wait forever/ And notice that it's gone' speaks volumes about feelings of lack. Overwhelmed by the demands of day-to-day living and the details and anxieties that always come, Edith squirreled herself away for as long as she could -- only to find herself isolated, spun even farther into the doldrums. In Space isn't simply a song-cum-album title so much as very real exploration of the remote place she'd found herself, with her songs registering this recognition and measuring the vast distances between herself, the life that is and the life that was. It was the only way back in! Over the years away, Edith was immersed in music everyday, and spent lots of time learning -- in addition to new lyric perspectives, her reinvention of herself as a keyboard player is one of the waves lifting the album In Space. The keys suggested different places within Edith's harmonic palette; for us listening, this attenuation seems to create a deep focus on emotional life within the songs and a breathtakingly visceral presence in the performances. Her voice as well, in all its iterations, sounds quite fine and vital. The songs, as ever, are low-key brilliance elevated by the vitality of Edith's voice. Mark Greenberg, alongside longtime Frost A&R man Rian Murphy, brought fresh arrangement ideas to complement the strange-new-world vibe of Edith's songs. Recorded at The Loft in Chicago, with invaluable contributions from Jim Becker (Califone, Air Blue Gowns), Sima Cunningham (Finom, formerly OHMME), Bill MacKay, and Jeff Ragsdale, In Space feels like the most Edith Frost record yet made, pulled from deep inside with great feeling, awash in harmonized voices and -- more often than ever before -- featuring her own playing. Alternatively approaching and avowing connection, Edith's crafty songwriting orbits the human exchange with an increasing sense of possibility. It's what the world needs the most of today."

RELEASE DATE: 2/21/2025
Seminal and highly influential album in the history of Venezuelan rock. Ladies W.C. (1968) is innovative in many aspects: from its stunning psychedelic guitars, loaded with fuzz and wah-wah effects, to its repertoire -- made up of original songs -- or even the graphics featured on the cover of the album. As in the case of "Love Depression," this album has become one of the most sought-after and collectible recordings of Venezuelan rock. Munster's reissue includes remastered sound from the original tapes, 180g vinyl and liner notes. Adib founded Ladies W.C. with his friends Jose Maria Arria "Chema" (bass, vocals), Wolfgang Vivas (lead vocals), and Frank Rojas (drums). Their sound was so innovative that it was not conducive to getting many bookings and they barely managed to play a single concert. As a result, all the original line-up, except Adib, upped and left. Soon after, Stephen Scott and Mario and Jaime Seijas replaced them, seamlessly complementing Adib's playing and his growing interest in blues and psychedelic hard rock. The group's first and only album, released by the Venezuelan label Souvenir, was recorded at Continente Studios in just 10 days. Ricardo Landaeta acted as technician, while Adib and Stephen worked out all the structures and arrangements of the songs, as well as the lyrics. They were very intense recording sessions in which they spent full days locked inside the studio. Hector Fuenmayor is the only guest musician on the recording. All the songs are their own compositions, which was unusual on the Venezuelan scene, as groups' repertoires tended to be cover versions of international hits. The sleeve art, displaying a striking illustration instead of the classic covers showing a photo of the band, was also a novel ingredient in Venezuela, as was the distorted sound of the guitars which made great use of the wah-wah pedal, the extensive harmonica playing, and creative use of sound effects, all of which gave the album a unified conceptual feel. The band were only active for only a couple of years from 1968 to 1969.

"It is impossible to overstate the significance of The Crowd to the nascent L.A. hardcore scene. Whilst bands like early Agent Orange and Social Distortion were playing to handfuls of fans in northern Orange County, in 1979 The Crowd were already filling backyards on their home turf in Huntington Beach, California. Ironically, it was further afield in the San Gabriel Valley that I first saw them perform, opening for the still punk Go-Go's in a small club. Without the continuing success of The Crowd in 1979 and throughout the summer of 1980, I would have packed my bags for London. Instead, the L.A. hardcore scene lifted off!" --Robbie Fields, Posh Boy Records

Triple LP version. "Superior Viaduct and new artist label, W.25TH, continue to be the home for Cindy Lee with the physical release of the celebrated album Diamond Jubilee. Universally praised, shortlisted for the 2024 Polaris Music Prize, and already hailed by Pitchfork as the third best album of the 2020s, anticipation and conversation around the record has been high. Cindy Lee is the performance and songwriting vehicle of Patrick Flegel (who previously fronted influential indie group Women). Over several albums, Flegel has combined delicate melodies and sheer beauty with moments of experimentation. With Diamond Jubilee, Flegel's undeniable songcraft comes to the foreground, embracing a more instant connection and accessibility. Timeless tales of love and longing, surrounded by sticky hooks, take the listener on an unforgettable journey. Diamond Jubilee was written and recorded over several years by Patrick Flegel in Toronto, Durham, Calgary and Montreal at Realistik Studios. The album was mixed by Steven Lind, who also contributes to several tracks and co-wrote 'Baby Blue,' and was mastered by Joshua Stevenson. Triple LP on black vinyl comes with 24"x36" poster."
"Each song like a foggy transmission from a rock 'n' roll netherworld with its ghostly canon of beloved hits." --Pitchfork
"Their masterwork, beamed down from another world, will always feel out of time and, therefore, feel at home in any given moment." --Paste
"Top album and song of the year so far, a legit timeless psych-pop masterpiece." --Gorilla Vs Bear
"The word of mouth album of the year." --The Guardian
"Intimate, serendipitous magic, Diamond Jubilee is not merely a piece of art, it's the entire exhibition." --Stereogum
"The greatest thing to happen to lo-fi pop in like a decade." --The Needle Drop
"An artist operating at the peak of their powers who is able to harness and crystallize all that potency and charge into a record." --Uncut

LP version. "Jules Reidy's sublime music maps the human experience in glittering constellations of sound. The guitarist is a driver of Berlin's fertile contemporary music scene. A wide-eyed imagination combined with technical mastery guide each work in Reidy's extensive catalog, from solo guitar albums and collaborations with innovative peers, including recent works with claire rousay, Oren Ambarchi, Andrea Belfi, and Sam Dunscombe to major commissions from JACK Quartet and Zinc & Copper. The songs of Ghost/Spirit collectively convey an astral sense of yearning and wonder, pushing towards transcendence. The album charts a deeply personal journey with love, spirituality and transformation expressed in fractal guitar figures, ethereal vocal vapors and rippling microtones. Reidy's guitar approach unlocks the tonal and textural possibilities of the instrument from their use of alternate tunings and astute processing. The maximalist melodics of album opener 'Every Day There's a Sunset' are bolstered by rumbling bass samples from Andreas Dzialocha, Reidy's collaborator in the duo Sun Kit. On 'Satellite,' cello samples from Judith Hamann stretch out through the cosmos, orbited by spiraling finger-picked guitars, while stacked trombone chords echo out into the ether. Thundering drum samples from Berlin metal mainstay Sara Neidorf push the album to ecstatic peaks on 'Every Day There's a Sunrise,' fragmented rhythms breaking apart in the atmosphere. Field recordings of the Berlin S-Bahn recur throughout the album, another endless cycle of leaving and returning that shuttles beneath the album's whirling tones. Ghost/Spirit captures the inherent power and agency in choosing to offer yourself up to the universe and let go, ego death and prayer rendered in incandescent sonics. Reidy's inimitable skill as a guitarist, producer and composer is on full display, and when combined with the intensity of experience, the resulting album is a remarkable work of art.
"Jules Reidy is another musician transforming the capabilities of an instrument, in this case the guitar -- somewhere between Vini Reilly, Glenn Branca and Kevin Shields." --The Guardian
"You grasp for names that might fit Reidy's elusive emotional register, searching in vain for an affective Rosetta Stone. The music feels both warmly familiar and uncomfortably alien; therein lies its power." --Pitchfork
"Like looking through a tinted window then trying to adjust to the world's normal colours. It's brilliant." --The Quietus
"[Their] music offers an intricate sonic tapestry of fingerstyle guitar, found sounds and spectral electronic drone." -- Crack

El Álamo was a cult Peruvian psychedelic rock band that, as other groups in Lima such as Laghonia, Traffic Sound, and Telegraph Avenue did, sung in English aiming to reach the international market. Their only LP was released in 1971 and was recorded under the influence of Hendrix, Santana, and The Allman Brothers. Unavailable for almost two decades, Munster now reissues Malos Pensamientos in its full glory, with gatefold jacket, two bonus tracks taken from their rare 45, and an insert with liner notes. Released in December 1971, Malos Pensamientos is a psychedelia and Latin rock album on the Peruvian Decibel record label. The local rock market appealed to the label, in spite of Santana's expulsion that same month by the nationalist military dictatorship to appease radical university students who protested vociferously that rock was imperialist. The origins of El Álamo can be found in Los Youngers, a group from Huacho, a city 140 km north of Lima, which was sponsored by the local priest to encourage younger parishioners to attend the go-go-style masses churches were celebrating across Peru by 1967. After recording a 45, the guitarist and bassist, Tino Pow Sang and Arturo Montenegro, moved to the Lima district of Maranga and revamped the band with Luis Iturry and Ricardo Allison from Los Shoes Makers joining the line-up. The average age of the group was 20 when they began laying down the instrumental track at a five-hour session at El Virrey studio. The album stand-out tracks include "Malos Pensamientos," a progressive rock song inspired by a Jimi Hendrix riff, accompanied by the atmospheric sounds of the organ; the rock ballad "Good Night," a must at parties with psychedelic lights and blacklights; "Candy," an abridged version of "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" (Crosby, Stills & Nash); and the psychedelic mantra "Can You See Me."

Color vinyl version. Released in 1982, You Goddamn Kids! by Geza X is a raw, rebellious album from L.A.'s underground punk scene. Known for producing bands like the Dead Kennedys and Black Flag, Geza brings his wild production style to his own music here, mixing punk energy with satirical lyrics that take sharp jabs at society. Tracks like "Isotope Soap" and "We Need More Power" embody the chaotic spirit of early punk. This edition includes two bonus tracks, adding even more grit and attitude to a cult classic that resonates with punk's DIY ethos. Limited edition vinyl reissue comes with double sided insert and reproduction of the original bumper sticker included in the first edition. Remastered by Geza X.

On December 4, 1956, four young musicians gathered by pure chance at Sun Records in Memphis for what would become one of the greatest jam sessions ever. In fact, the four guys in question happened to be Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, and Jerry Lee Lewis, hence the name Million Dollar Quartet. Not only does this recording show a glimpse of the real Elvis, but it actually stands as a musical artifact in itself. Ranging from gospel spirituals and country standards to covers of Bill Monroe and Chuck Berry songs, these four all-time rock icons play with all the ingredients that created rock and roll, just for the fun of it.

"Top album and song of the year so far, a legit timeless psych-pop masterpiece." --Gorilla Vs Bear

"Wrekmeister Harmonies, the duo of JR Robinson and Esther Shaw, are sonic shape shifters with expansive ideas. From special performances to collaborations the band have worked with David Yow (Jesus Lizard) Ryley Walker, Ken Vandermark, Bruce Lamont, Mark Solotroff, Sanford Parker, Jamie Fennely (Mind Over Mirrors), The Body, Mary Lattimore, Olivia Block, Jamie Stewart (Xiu Xiu), Chris Brokaw, Fred Lonberg-Holm, and Thor Harris (Swans). Inspired by artists such as Glenn Branca, Rhys Chatham, and Lou Reed, the duo approach each album as a new sonic adventure. Flowers in the Spring was born of deep, careful listening as much as composing. It explores music as a meditative practice with a focus on microtonal shifts and intersectional overtones. Robinson explains: 'It's the subtle movements within and without, the fine threads of sound, loud or quiet, interior or exterior that become valuable.' Limiting himself to just four mixer channels on each piece; precisely layering guitar and electronics, intently listening and manipulating either the intensity or the duration of each loop to yield unexpected interactions, moments of beauty as well as dissonance." Flowers in Spring emerges from fizzing distortion, hewing monolithic slabs of drone from the rock face while electronics push through fissures. 'Fuck the Pigs' uses layers of noise as it metaphorically shifts into the depths of winter, arctic winds howling while the guitar scars like frost across a windowpane. In contrast 'A Shepherd Stares Into the Sun' is pure light and heat, overwhelming in its sheer celestial enormity. 'Flowers Variation" was born of nature's microscopic subterranean movements in its primordial gloom and buzzing synth pads. Each track holds multitudes of micro sonic details coming together to form the album's expansive ecosystem."
"an immensely rewarding listen that takes both his band -- and the hybrid genre he's helping invent -- to new heights." --Pitchfork
"Robinson's musical vision is as naturally imposing on a recording as you imagine his grey-bearded, urbanshaman -- with-knuckle-tattoos-appearance would be in the flesh."- The Quietus
