Two years after his critically acclaimed Ultrachroma album, Kangding Ray returns to ARA with a decisively dance- floor LP named Zero. As the artwork suggests, his different explorations and influences converge into one point on this record, where sound becomes a raw vibration, precisely engineered to bring bodies into movement. This record marks both a return to the source of his sound in its purest shape, with hints of his debuts on the experimental label raster-noton, as well as the hypnotic journeys he is now for with his DJ sets. As an artist who is constantly reshaping his own sound in search of new forms, Kangding Ray offers here a singular take on modern dance music, driven by a visceral and futuristic approach. "When an audio signal crosses the X-axis, there is an infinitesimal moment of silence. Zero is inspired by this quiet instant, a point of inversion where vibrations die and are reborn at the same time."

ARA welcome a new incredible talent. Polygonia created a landmark record of avant-garde dance music called Living Patterns. The six tracks are inspired by nature, converting the complex structures of plants and animals into spiraling pulsations and fractal textures. Polygonia represents a multidisciplinary music and art project conceived by Lindsey Wang from Munich, Germany. She draws inspiration from her many years of practicing various acoustic instruments and her keen interest for other cultural forms of expression, which she translates into the digital language of electronic music and art. The soundscape of her own productions conveys a mystical, organic character, and features driving complex rhythms.

This music was composed for SKALAR, an audio-visual kinetic art installation by light artist Christopher Bauder and Kangding Ray. SKALAR is a large-scale art installation that explores the complex impact of light and sound on human perception. Created by light artist Christopher Bauder and musician Kangding Ray, this monumental artwork is a reflection on the fundamental nature and essence of human emotions. By combining a vast array of kinetic mirrors and perfectly synchronized moving lights with a sophisticated multi-channel sound system, SKALAR offers an audio-visual narration of radiant light vector drawings and multi-dimensional sound in enormous pitch-dark spaces. SKALAR is an intense journey through the cycle of basic human emotions. Everchanging tonalities trigger the full spectrum of emotional experiences using light, sound, and motion. The feelings of awe, surprise, exhilaration, and anticipation of having one's senses overwhelmed are created, explored, and repeated in cycles throughout the piece, providing a collective, yet highly individual emotional experience. Light and darkness as endless cycles of day and night define our perception of time and influence our emotions. SKALAR is a central piece within light artist Christopher Bauder's body of work, reflecting his deep fascination with light. In this gigantic installation, light is treated as a solid material that can be dimensionally sculpted and shaped, evoking abstract emotional associations. Intertwined with the tireless exploration of textures, rhythm, and sound design by musician and composer Kangding Ray, the silence of darkness is filled with iridescent forms of spatial light and sound. The original composition is spatialized in 360° over a 12 channels sound system, this stereo version has been mixed and mastered to convey a similar sense of space. As of the release of this record, SKALAR has been presented in Berlin (Kraftwerk) in 2018, in Mexico City (Frontón) in 2019 & in Amsterdam (Gashouder) in 2020. Gatefold sleeve with silver embossed.

Luc Kheradmand, under his "nom de plume" Voiski, has created a gem of a record for Ara, named At The Speed Of Love. His highly distinctive sound is distilled into five stunning tracks which feel both analog and futuristic. Diverse yet coherent, the record is a fantastic blend of positive energies, unfolding and revealing its different faces as it progresses; ecstatic at times, and moving at others. This is music with enough depth to project your own meaning and emotions. Each vinyl sleeve is individually painted with highly-pigmented acrylic, using a single-movement brush technic, on grey cardboard sleeves, protected by a high grade transparent outer sleeve. Since releasing physical records is increasingly becoming an irrational choice, each Ara record is irrationally produced as an hand-made work of art. Editions are individually numbered, recognisable as a part of a whole, while being slightly different by nature. Edition of 500 (numbered). Handmade with love in Berlin.

The second release on Ara comes from Adiel. The repetitive motives are the core of Musicofilia EP, pushing further Adiel's research of hypnotic patterns and raw textures. "Musicofilia" conveys Adiel's exploration of dissonances colliding with abrasive beats and soothing melodies. "The Call" starkly highlights the wistful tone of the record, when "Vanishing" offers a dense soundscape underlined by an irregular rhythmic structure, leading to the title track, unfolding as an overdriven club jam. "Rednight", with its throbbing pulse, gracefully concludes this EP by channeling its melancholic, yet sharp spirit.
