Z Records presents Vol. 3 in its 90's House & Garage compilation series, this time presented by Jeremy Underground, a man who should need no introduction when it comes to all things House & Garage. Jeremy is a passionate record collector, DJ, music lover whose collection and knowledge surpasses his years of collecting and he's made it his personal mission to bring the warm vibes of this sound back and showcase the spirit of this golden era in house. This is his third ever house music compilation and much like the previous two in this series, the compiler digs deep into his collection to select tracks that haven't been re-released digitally and, in one case, never released at all! Meaning a lot of the tracks included here are being digitized for the very first time. Sourcing material from the original DAT tapes of the artists or in some cases painstakingly transferred from vinyl, cleaned and treated to the highest professional standards of today. Split over two parts on gatefold double 12" vinyl (ZEDD 061LP and ZEDD 061X-LP) and double CD for the first time, this is a very carefully curated album, showcasing a deep love and understanding for the sound represented here, from what is a definitive decade for House & Garage. Featuring tracks and remixes from the likes of Kerri Chandler, Murk, 95 North, and more.

Double LP version. Gatefold. Z Records are back with another instalment of badass funk from the disco era with Supafunkanova Vol. 3 which has been selected by prolific DJ, producer, remixer, and record collector, Woody Bianchi. Woody digs deep into his collection, compiling a high-quality album filled with lesser-known disco, funk, and boogie. As the title suggests, Supafunkanova focuses on the funkier end of the '70s and '80s, showcasing some of the bumpier grooves recorded in the disco era when even James Brown had to take notice of the Saturday Night Fever-inspired disco explosion. It will come as no surprise to hear some particularly hard to find gems have been unearthed here, and ones that aren't just rare and expensive (if you can even find a copy!) but genuinely merit being re-issued. With expansive sleeve notes by Woody himself to give you an in-depth insight to the music, artists, and personal discovery of each record. Z Records have been working on Vol. 3 for some time now as the first and second instalments were released way back in 2007 and 2015 respectively. It takes a while to put these albums together, tracking down the owners of these musical gems, finding the right image for the sleeve but it's finally come together.
Double-LP version features Chosen Few, The Freex Machine, Nzimande All Stars, The Firebolts, Aggression, The Movers, World, Joe & Lee, Joe Pugliese, The Family Tree, Pressure Point, John Blair, The Headquarters, Wylie, Cania, and Montreal.

Legendary producer Dave Lee returns as AC Soul Symphony with Metamorphosis -- his most ambitious production project in his 35-year career. With an inimitable CV and discography that includes over a thousand production credits to his name, hundreds of singles under renowned pseudonyms including Joey Negro, and three UK top 40 hits as Jakatta, Dave Lee is one of the UK's most revered producers of disco and house music, defining each genre with a signature sound. Always looking to push the boundaries of what it means to make music, his latest project sees Dave return to one of his lesser-known pseudonyms -- AC Soul Symphony -- to deliver an epic disco record that takes the sound back to its roots in every way possible. Comprising 15 beautifully arranged disco tracks that effortlessly span almost two hours, Metamorphosis is an album by definition, but at its core, much more than that -- it is a labor of love, meticulously composed, arranged and crafted through a very tangible and human creative process which is unmatched by many modern producers. Inspired by happy memories from the golden era of TV and the soundtracks of his favorite childhood shows, Metamorphosis was borne of a desire to put the strings center stage and recreate the same analogue sounds that brought instrumental albums by Love Unlimited, MFSB, and Salsoul Orchestra to life. Taking disco back to a physical place, Metamorphosis was an organic writing process that saw Dave lay down his ideas digitally, before reshaping the MIDI strings into a proper arrangement and recording them live with a 20-piece orchestra at RAK Studios. By his own admission, it is an album of pure indulgence, but by relying on digital production methods, it can be easy to lose sight of the soul that makes music such a unifying entity. Backing up the immaculate strings with catchy vocals and enough groove to level a discotheque, it's this soulful energy that Dave has captured and expertly delivered with Metamorphosis.

Sold out, but 2023 repress forthcoming in May. Double LP version. Gatefold sleeve. Z Records continues its commitment to unearthing the obscure and long forgotten tracks from the last 40 years through the ever-popular Under The Influence series. Following on from Red Greg, Nick The Record, Sean P, Faze Action, and 2021's Alena Arpels. It's now the turn of one of the scene's most impressive collectors and DJs; Rahaan. Hailing from Chicago his love affair with muzik started in the late '70s/early '80s, listening to muzik on the radio combined with his mom and dad playing their records every weekend. In the early '80s on the South side of Chicago, he started hearing something a bit different, what they called "house muzik". A combination of disco, jazz, soul funk, new wave, and Italo disco. Here, Rahaan digs deep into his impressive record collection that he has collected, built up, and crafted over his many years of traveling, networking and DJ'ing to showcase 22 of his finest and rarest cuts. Many of the tracks on the album would cost hundreds and that's if you were even able to find the originals. As always with ZR compilations a lot of time and effort has been spent on creating these masters from the original vinyl, cleaning them up, removing all the clicks and pops resulting in the cleanest sounding copy possible.

The follow-up to his 2017 album (ZEDD 041CD/LP), Produced With Love II is a collection of brand new songs from one of the UK's most longstanding, respected and fiercely independent artists. In a flash-in-the-pan industry like music, Dave Lee's career is notable for both its longevity and consistency. As a record producer and remixer, DJ and curator, he's now clocked up well over 30 years and, if such things existed, would be nailed on for a carriage clock for long service to add to the numerous hits and landmarks he's enjoyed over a storied career. His latest album, Produced With Love II, continues the work he started with 2017's superb collection. Incorporating aspects of house, soul, and disco, and crafted with the attention to detail you'd expect from someone of Lee's heritage and caliber, Produced With Love II comprises 12 brand new songs. The writing process has always remained the same and Dave has always preferred to work face-to-face with artists whenever possible -- albeit with a few enforced remote sessions due to the pandemic. Released as the lead single from the album, "Starlight" sees Lee team up with Omar. "Starlight" is a gorgeous, mid-tempo dance record, with Omar's silky vocals backed up with rich production: soaring live strings, groove-laden clav and synth over a chugging bassline creating a heady, inviting atmosphere. It's an almost viscerally life-affirming record: a theme that continues throughout the entire album. Take a track like "If You Ever Need Somebody" featuring Tiffany T'zelle, or "Taste My Love" with vocals from Billy Valentine. These songs would stand toe-to-toe with any soul standard from the '70s or '80s: to have production this rich and bold in 2022 isn't far short of miraculous. And that's what you get throughout Produced With Love II -- an attention to detail and level of creative collaboration rarely seen. It's why a Dave Lee album is a rare thing. These things take time, but when they do come along, it's something worth treasuring.
Double-CD version also features: Raw Essence, Lifford, Mistura, Dave & Maurissa, Dave Lee, Billy Valentine, Jemini, The Sunburst Band, Foreal People, Xan Blacq, Angela Johnson, Jayenne, Gina Carey, Leroy Burgess, Kokomo, Harold Melvin And The Bluenotes, Str4ta, Destiny II, Wayne Hernandez, Prospect Park, The Vison, Andreya Triana, Roland Wrightangle, Darcus, and Ja'Shay.

The forthcoming full-length album Operation Disco that Greg "Dr" Packer has put together for Z Records. On an unstoppable run recently, the quality shows no sign of slowing down as Packer showcases his talent for splicing and dicing tracks. On the bonus second CD he supplies a continuous mix live from his operating theater, packed to the absolute brim with Packer and other Z Records back catalog favorites of his. "It has been a huge honor working on the operation disco album compilation for Z Records which has been on my radar for three decades now and is possibly my favorite house and disco label. Dave Lee is a big inspiration to me as his 1991 Single 'Do What You Feel' was one of the first records to appear in my DJ sets in my earliest days as a working DJ 30 years ago. In 2013 I started to produce music under the 'Dr Packer' name and when I began doing the occasional remix for Z Records, I never imagined it would end up resulting in an album project. To be able to work on cover versions of some of my all-time favorite soul and disco songs such as 'You Can't Run From My Love' and some of my all-time favorite vocalists such as Leroy Burgess it is really a dream come true. Dave Lee is an easy guy to work with and is always open to my suggestions which resulted in me remixing one of my all-time favorite tracks of his 'Love Fantasy' which is also now three decades old. Not to mention possibly my favorite single from his Destination Boogie compilation, the '80s underground classic Colors' "Am I Gonna Be The One' plus two brand new mixes of The Sunburst Band. Making this a very exciting album project with plenty of exclusives and re-masters of my older releases, not to mention my favorite gems from the amazing Z Records back catalog." --Greg Packer. Also features Jayenne, Mistura, The Love Symphony Orchestra, Samson & Delilah, Raw Essence, Lisa Hill, Doug Willis, Magnum Force, Opolopo, Joey Remix, Patrice Rushen, JN, Crackazat, Foreal People, Horse Meat Disco, Angela Johnson, JKriv, Adeline, Antonello Ferrari, and Jennifer Wallace.

Z Records continues its commitment to unearthing the obscure and long forgotten tracks from the last 40 years through the ever-popular Under The Influence series. It's now the turn of one of the scene's most impressive collectors; Alena Arpels. Now in its tenth year, Z Records' Under The Influence series gives a musical platform to record collectors that may be unknown to the general public but are hardcore enthusiasts who have built some of the best collections of soul, funk and disco. Volume Nine features tracks selected by a London-based DJ, dancer and record collector, Alena Arpels. Originally pressed on vinyl in very small quantities, these 19 records were issued between 1970-1983. Many of the tracks included in this compilation were never commercially released but given away by the artists to family and friends instead. There are no genre boundaries so expect to hear funk, soul, disco, boogie and jazz funk. What is common, however, is talent, groove, drive and passion. Collecting rare records and DJing for over 15 years, she's also been a regular DJ and dancer at soul, boogie, house and UK jazz dance parties. Alena is a frequent guest at European soul weekenders. As always with ZR compilations a lot of time and effort has been spent on creating these masters from the original vinyl, cleaning them up, removing all the clicks and pops resulting in the cleanest sounding copy possible.

2022 restock; double LP version. Gatefold sleeve. "At the end of the '90s, a movement began in West London that birthed a fresh direction in dance music. Though this movement never got mainstream press coverage, never had a crossover chart single, and never really transcended its community roots, there was a unique alchemy at work -- a fertile moment of creativity, where a group of friends began to experiment with new cadences, rhythms, and distilled influences, crafting a new direction in the attics and bedrooms of their neighboring postcodes. Their music was a head-on collision between the sounds they had been raised on; the reggae sound system culture of Notting Hill Carnival, the sophistication and sheen of electro-funk, jazz fusion, soulful house, and disco, the Afro-beat sounds of Tony Allen and Fela Kuti, and the raw minimalism of early hip-hop. Though 'Broken Beat' was never a tagline that the producers anticipated, and one that they often publicly resisted, those two words would gradually come to represent the scattered rhythms, rolling basslines, and soaring changes that were inherent to this exciting new sound. The production was grounded in MPCs and SP1200s, the hand-me-down samplers of the hip-hop and jungle golden eras, and the drums that tumbled out of these machines at the hands of these creators had a jagged, stuttering feel, almost as though the groove was close to collapse." --Mr Beatnick May 2020
"As a music lover I was always a fan of the broken beat records that came out of west London in the late '90s/early 2000s . . . there's songs on here from Germany (Jazzanova and Lars Bartkuln) Japan (Jazztronik and Hajime Yoshizawa) to represent that. When putting this album together it is hard not to notice the presence of Kaidi Tatham on many of the songs, he was such an instrumental force in the evolution of the sound. Breaking The Beats isn't a best of broken beat album and due to some licensing issues we were unable to include every song I would have liked but I think it does give the listener a good taste of the sound." --Dave Lee
Double-LP version features 4hero, Bugz In The Attic, NSM, Domu, Face, Jazztronik, Kaidi Tatham, Vikter Duplaix, Agent K, Fourth Kind, Taylor McFerrin, Vincent Parker, Nova Fronteira, AtJazz, Blakai, and Bembe Segue. Double-LP version comes in gatefold sleeve.

Double LP version. Gatefold sleeve. Welcome to the second instalment of Colin Curtis's Jazz Dance Fusion compilation series for Z Records. Curtis looks back into the story and history of the UK jazz dance and jazz music scene; a movement that started, according to Curtis, back in the '70s. The sounds of funk and soul mixed with jazz, influences from Brazil, Africa, Europe, and all over the globe, textures of instrumental sounds and voices fuse to create the much-loved "jazz fusion" sound. Here we are in 2020 when interest in all forms of jazz is growing fast as DJ pioneers such as Gilles Peterson, Patrick Forge, Perry Louis, Snowboy, Nick Hosier, Alan McKinnon, Jim Bernardi, Kev Beadle, Harv Nagi, Shuya Okino, and David Patterson continue to push all aspects of jazz to converted and new audiences. So, to this compilation where Curtis showcases unreleased material and offers tracks up for the first time ever on CD or vinyl. The track listing covers Curtis's addiction to dancefloor jazz, coupled with his passion for vocal and percussive jazz, with his usual trademark Latin touches. Features Paoli Mejias, Leslie Lewis & Gerard Hagen Trio, Curtis Lundy, 8VB, Marita Albán Juárez Quartet, JD Walter, Steven Kroon, Hajime Yoshizawa, Navasha Daya, Raffaela Renzulli Ensemble, Carmen Lundy, Tino Gonzales, Grady Tate, and Jam Session Goes Latino.
