"Shane Berry was born in South Africa and presently lives in Japan's capital, Tokyo. There he creates his tracks, all of which go directly from the ears to the legs. He released an EP on Trapez and tracks on the New York label Synewave. His songs are played and charted by numerous DJs, and colleagues such as Richie Hawtin and Dominik Eulberg hold Berry's work in high esteem. The new EP on Glückskind might also please them. Again Shane takes two bass lines and twists the sounds for several minutes through an electronic meat grinder. Over the kick, it pulsates and holds it all together perfectly. 'Scrawlys' is refined, reduced minimal techno. 'Deep Space' goes a bit deeper, techno-wise. Indeed, there is also a dominating bass loop, but the insertion of reverb and delay leaves the track with far more room to breathe."

"Fillertet 2" is a big hit by South African artist Shane Berry, and it was just a matter of time until someone remixed it. This track has been a permanent rocker in every DJ set and could be found in DJ top 10 charts for weeks. The A-side is an extended open-air breakpoint version by Dominik Eulberg. On the B-side, Gabriel Ananda's long version evolves from what seems to be close to the original, but then rapidly moves on into a strong percussive direction.

Tokyo-based Shane Berry releases a new bass monster. The A-side was produced for DJs who are not afraid of big bass lines, deep knocking kick drums and sparkling shifting beats. "Losttime" starts with a sinewave tone and shortly after adds a sexy female voice. Then the rhythm starts kicking off, very cool and funky but strong and dark. The B-side track "Freed," by contrast, is a more peak time focused techno floor burner. It has the frequencies set right to make people dance hectic on the dance floor, turning and skipping but never falling.

"'To There' is the perfect follow up to Shane Berry's debut EP Fillertet 2 on Trapez ltd, which was charted by Dominik Eulberg no. 5 in his top ten of 2005. This is reflected especially in his stunning 13-minute epic 'To There'. A mind boggling space odyssey, bass line driven epic with strong breaks and nice 808 programming. The flip-side track 'For A Moment' is a good deal more down to earth and comes with a funky hypnotic groove, very dry in its sound aesthetic with intervals quite unusual and unique! The B2 Track 'Sight' is an organ-driven almost 'Herbert'-like track, very vivid and funky!"

"Yes, Trapez Ltd is constantly on the move looking for inspiring techno artists to join their highly respected core artists. Here we go with a new musician from Johannesburg living in Tokyo delivering what we think one of the most original blends we have come across lately. Shane Berry is somehow mixing together influences we would refer to as analog morphing-modulating music in the style of Sleep Archive with modern laptop techno music. His stream of music follows a nice pace, is very rhythmical and funky in the long term. Therefore Berry knows how to work with dynamics in terms of the arrangement and the sound itself. The A-side 'Fillertet 2' is a floor killer par excellence with an exceptional break that works with a grinding noise sequence that created explosive movements on every dance floor Triple R has played it. The B-side 'Fillertet 3' is slightly more deep but hits the nerve with a lot of clubbers around in a cool and rhythmic fashion, is a perfect continuation of the A-side. The record has been charted by Dominik Eulberg and everyone who has heard it was equally fascinated by the record!"
