8MM Musik present a reissue of The Blue Angel Lounge's self-titled debut, originally released in 2008. The story of The Blue Angel Lounge began in the post-industrial town of Hagen in Western Germany in 2006 when Nils Ottensmeyer and Dennis "Mel" Melster, both with abundant talent and little to do, began sculpting soundscapes. The band recorded and self-released their debut, The Blue Angel Lounge in 2008, and shortly thereafter caught the attention of 8MM Musik in Berlin. The band took their name from the club in New York City that in the 1960s offered Nico (Velvet Underground) her first live performances in America. Nico would remain an underlying influence on the band. Initially a six-piece darkly psychedelic outfit, with their second album Narcotica (8MM 011CD/LP, 2015), they began subtly introducing post-punk elements to their melodic songwriting, and the intensity of Nils O's vocal began to come to the forefront. Strangers to the mainstream, but revered by a steadily expanding fanbase around the world, the band have earned the respect of other groups such as Interpol, The Dandy Warhols, and A Place To Bury Strangers and have been invited to support them on tour.

180 gram double LP version. Audiences didn't hear much from The Blue Angel Lounge after the band from Hagen, Germany, abruptly split up in July 2014 -- until a cryptic message appeared online in early 2016, reading "The Blue Angle Lounge. Double LP. In Times." As quickly as it appeared, the message disappeared again, but its claim is now confirmed. In Times 2006-2010 contains both carefully selected demos of The Blue Angel Lounge's three studio albums -- The Blue Angel Lounge (2008), Narcotica (8MM 011CD, 2010), and A Sea Of Trees (AUK 112CD/LP, 2014) -- and previously unreleased recordings, reflecting the band's coherent progression between 2006 and 2012 and capturing them at their peak. The collection takes its title from the song "In Times," which was originally composed during the Narcotica sessions in 2010 and previously appeared exclusively on the 10 Years 8MM Musik compilation in 2013 (8MM 016LP). It is unclear at the time of this release whether In Times marks the rebirth of one of Germany's best bands of the 2010s, but the collection does coincide with a string of acoustic shows in Europe by founding members Nils Ottensmeyer and Dennis Melster.

The Blue Angel Lounge signed to Anton Newcombe's (The Brian Jonestown Massacre) label A Recordings, and 2014 sees their return with their third studio album A Sea of Trees. Since the release of their previous album Narcotica, the band have been garnering international acclaim, touring the U.S., UK and France with the Dandy Warhols and The Brian Jonestown Massacre, and also making appearances at the Austin Psych Fest and Roskilde. A Sea of Trees sees the band blossom into its own, incorporating the experimentation of their most recent EP and single releases ("Ewig" 2012, "Walls" 2013). From the very first moment of A Sea of Trees, the epic opening track "Winter" wastes no time sonically detailing where the band has been. The band's weapons of choice, guitars coupled with harmonium and singer Nils Ottensmeyer's powerful Nico'esque vocals culminate in genre-bending territory belonging to them alone.

While staying true to their Nico and Velvet Underground- inspired colors, broader timeless inspiration of new wave, post-punk, and shoegaze are accentuated throughout Blue Angel Lounge's release, Narcotica. The band present a strong balance between relatively up-tempo songs such as "Caught Crow" or "Delete My Ideals" and the atmospheric and psychedelic in tracks "I Will Never" and 'Son of the Ocean." Narcotica was self-produced with the assistance of Anton Newcombe (The Brian Jonestown Massacre). Mr. Newcombe can be heard singing backing vocals on "Delete My Ideals."
