Cassy returns with E.T. Ascension, a mini journey through the sounds of house and techno which she adores. With this release she revisits the simplistic methods she used when making music in previous years when living in Berlin with her then husband, where he helped build her home-studio in the living room. With him being an established sound engineer she learned a lot from him through the process and by using predominantly just an 808 and a PC, the pair produced the main parts of these tracks together, with Cassy finishing them off herself last summer. It reminded her of the weirdness that makes her productions so great, which is what she has pinned on this release, enjoying the feelings of freedom by using the machine again, and revisiting the feelings she had when using the machine for the first time, how fresh, new and particular the sounds were.

This is the first single off of Cassy's third record, released on her label, where she concentrates on simple sound and voice experiments. Both tracks are very characteristic of her sound, with vocals and 808s on both tracks. "Endless Endeavour" is a "love song" whereas "Ava" could be perceived as an anti-love song.

Like hardly any other contemporary DJ, Berlin-based Catherine Britton aka Cassy is living at the interfaces between reduction and soul, jazzy deep house and geometrically-structured techno. In Berlin, she quickly gained a residency at the Panorama Bar, worked as a producer with such renowned musicians as Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano, Mathew Jonson and Swayzak, and has released her music on labels such as Perlon and Ostgut Ton as well as on her own imprint, Cassy. Simply Devotion is Cassy's second mix CD after the highly-acclaimed Panorama Bar 01 (OSTGUT 002CD) compilation, and it is proof of her love for deep house of a different kind, which has -- despite occasional flashes of soul vocals -- nothing to do with garage house. With unhurried charm and a secure sense of the seductive power of house music, Cassy enchants us with more than 70 minutes of sensual sound hypnosis and she starts with an exclamation mark: together with his Ifach buddy Ian Loveday aka Minimal Man, Baby Ford beguiles the listener with mantra house with hints of Italo-pop. Anton Zap recalls, with his purified form of percussive dub house, the best days of Chez Damier, and Danny Howells makes you speechless with "September," a breathtaking stringed furioso in the best tradition of Detroit trance, remixed by Future Beat Alliance. Cassy's own unreleased track "Magnificent Cat Won't Do" is powered by the kind of electrically-charged minimal dub soul that is so typical for her. The final track comes from Miami's house institution and Murk legend Ralph Falcon with his house mix of "Whateva," which sits somewhere in between R'n'B vocals and acid reminiscences. Other artists include: Trus'me, Jitterbug, DJ Qu, Kai Alce, Azulu Phantom, STL, Taho, Quince, Kassem Mosse, Linkwood, Inland Knights, Kezym, Pierre LX, and Alan T and Alex K.

OSTGUT 002CD

2010 repress. This is the deepest electronic music mix CD of 2006. The first mix CD commemorating Berlin's Panorama Bar -- a special club that has reached legendary and international status as being a beacon for dance music. It is only logical that Cassy, the club's resident DJ illustrates what a night is like at the Panorama. Anyone who has spent some time on Panorama Bar's dancefloor during one of Cassy's sets has witnessed the special kind of atmosphere and energy she manages to create with her special house sound. When Cassy is behind the decks, it is rather probable that everyone will dance. Her very own way of fusing deep, minimal and sexy records is highly exceptional and it creates a very intoxicating, special groove. As one of Panorama Bar's residents, Cassy has managed to coin a sound which really stands for this location. Thus, it's appropriate that she delivers the second installment in Ostgut's series of mix CDs. She has picked 24 tracks ranging from DBX's classic "Bleep," to more recent tracks like Redshape's "Dust," adding up to an emotionally dense, varied and deep mix. With the right choice of tracks, Cassy shows that introverted minimalism is only one crossfade away from something a lot more ecstatic. Her way of mixing lets the music by artists like Rick Wade, Baby Ford, Auto-Repeat or Shed merge into one big picture. Cassy is not interested in trends. She is relying on her personal taste, always searching for a timeless quality in music. Where most of the commercial mix CDs are put together on a computer these days, this CD was created with two turntables, a mixer and a pair of hands. Other artists on this mix include: Shackleton, Dwayne Jensen feat. Miyon, Norm Talley, D5, Melchior Productions, Tobias, Ricardo Villalobos, nsi., Mono Junk, Baby Ford & The Ifach Collective, Yassin & Arne, Ø, Mathias Kaden, Liebe ist Cool and DJ Abstract.

2013 repress. "Catherine Britton aka Cassy entered the electronic music world in Vienna, as a vocalist for Elin aka Autorepeat. After her first DJ gigs in Vienna, Munich and further productions, she met Dave The Hustler in Geneva where they started working on a project for Mental Groove. Geneva was also where she met Luciano and co-produced 'La Ondita,' one of the album tracks on Lucien-N-Luciano's Blind Behaviour for Peacefrog and 'Alpine Rocket' together with Mathew Jonson for Perlon. In March 2003, Cassy moved to Berlin where she became involved in projects with artists such as Steve Bug and Ricardo Villalobos. On Ricardo's last album for Perlon, she co-produced 2 tracks. Perlon 52 marks her first ever solo release."
