"Cindytalk has remained a majestic proposition over the decades, one marked by a continued process of disintegration and regeneration. Change has been a constant for Cindytalk, as has been the presence of the Scottish musician Cinder, who has fronted the project since the early '80s. The first Cindytalk albums embraced a dark theatricality of post-punk dissonance and abject rock deconstruction that coupled industrial dirges with Cinder's beatific vocals, these same vocals that were once plied to the earliest This Mortal Coil and Cocteau Twins recordings, forever binding Cinder to the 4AD lore. But even on those albums, Cinder was pushing the band to embrace the studio as a tool for further abstraction of sodden drones, cobwebbed dark elegance, and decayed textures. By the early aughts, Cinder had reimagined Cindytalk through the granular processes of digitalia with a handful of equally celebrated works of glitch-born expressionism for Editions Mego. Sunset and Forever is a labyrinthine opus, one that returns to the themes of the sacred and profane that have rippled through all of Cindytalk's recordings, albeit in various guises. The opening track 'Embers of Last Leaves' is a haunted piece of undulated, cyclical tones that entwine into a sorrowful chorale with Cinder's own voice. Thumps of electronic drum kicks and bass drops dot the apocalyptic menace of 'Tower of the Sun' but serve not as a rhythmic grid, but as painterly noises that further disrupt and disturb the machined dissonance. A cinematic radioluminescence blooms from the tempered electronics within 'For Those Eyes, Shadows Of Flowers.' The finale 'I See Her in Everywhere' bookends the opening number with a seemingly human chorus build from electronic tones cast in cathedral reverence. Sounds throughout may appear adjacent to those of Fennesz, Holly Herndon, or even Lovesliescrushing from time to time, but Sunset and Forever remains purely Cindytalk. Cover designed by Chris Bigg, known for his iconic design work for 4AD. Mastered by James Plotkin."

The Labyrinth Of The Straight Line is a compilation of chimerical poetry. Ambiguous haikus of agony, melancholy, obscurity and dissensus are unfolding over time. Walking on the shapeshifting paths of transgression, on the search for new realities since the early 1980s, Cindytalk's latest release pays homage to their industrial roots, comprising brutalist outbursts in abstract sceneries of beauty and abysmality. As surreal and introspective as a film by Jean Cocteau, as labyrinthic and enigmatic as a story of Borges, Cindytalk succeeds in spatializing subjectivity. These introverted detournements follow the logic of dreams and form the unsettling soundtrack of an unresting mind. The outcome can be abrasive and Balearic at times, but also delicate and melancholic. The Labyrinth Of The Straight Line forms an alphabet of dark and obscure detachment. Acid shivers of a body without organs and convulsive pumps of arteries alternate with poignant murmurs of the past that dissolve in tender shades of hushed despair and graceful debris. The listener finds themselves in spaces with walls crumbling down or concaved by glazed mirrors terrorizing the claustrophobic body. From time to time, you can hear a disembodied voice, speaking soft and clear like a narrator from a different reality. Sonic psycho-geography between somnambulist dark ambient, claustrophobic post-industrial and nightmarish techno. Delightful sketches of eschatology. Written and recorded by Cindytalk between 2013-2015 at Roi Vert, Okamoto, Japan and Thirteenth Floor, London, UK. Film clips on "Sea Of Lost Hopes", "Lost Unfound" and "Filthy Sun" from Ghost Dance (1983) directed by Ken McMullen. Design/images by David Coppenhall.

A Life Is Everywhere is an ecstatic mix of rhythm, noise, drone, texture, and melody. Simultaneously heartfelt and not for the faint-hearted. Within their self-contained world, Cindytalk continue the unique trajectory that has purveyed their career starting in 1982. This installment further explores the fearsome terrain that was initiated with previous Editions Mego releases such as The Crackle of My Soul and Hold Everything Dear. Throughout the six tracks on offer, the standard fair of music is run through serious level processes leaving, taking rhythm and sound to extreme limits while always retaining trace elements of their core. Ringing bells are interrupted by artifacts from shredded sound-matter, euphoric chords are swamped by chopped rhythms which succumb to an endless storm of electronic bliss. Utopia has never been so bold. The unique positioning of Cindytalk's output over a 30+ year period is a testament to the will to explore, unfettered by trend, taste and desire. This is unadulterated expression, a future music for those willing to confront the future as a viable option.

This is the third installment in the new Cindytalk sound which started with 2007's The Crackle Of My Soul (EMEGO 097CD), and then 2010's Up Here In The Clouds (EMEGO 106CD). It's the first in the trilogy to feature musicians other than Gordon Sharp, namely the late Matt Kinnison, to whom the album is dedicated. Inspired by the John Berger book of the same name, this latest release is a whole new set of parameters, which push the sound on the previous two works to an extreme point of abstraction, and in some places, near silent passages and haunted melodic segments. And what a mysterious journey this ends up being, with increased use of piano and found/field recordings giving all the tracks a blurry soundtrack appeal to the point where the definitions between the tracks are no longer clearly defined. It harks back to the odder parts of In This World and The Wind Is Strong albums from the early 1990s. Superbly packaged with new David Coppenhall artwork in a 4-panel digipack. Mastered at Piethopraxis, June 2011. Cut by Rashad Becker at Dubplates & Mastering, Berlin, June 2011.

"We dream in colour is the title of the new live music project, curated by six d.o.g.s and Angelos Petroutsas (Prince of Poverty), that consists of seven live concerts in the Gig Space of six d.o.g.s venue in Athens, Greece, starting from February 2011 and ending in December 2011 of seven music artists and the release of seven 7" by Tourette Records, in which the artists shall contribute music for the project. Each artist has been assigned with one color in a 'journey' from the moon to the sun, and each 7" is considered as a blooming colored flower and as seen in the art work of the jacket a bee dancing in coordinates with the sun showing to other 'bees' where the 'nectar' music can be found and a solar clock pointing the time of each live concert taking place in Athens."

Special 2LP + 7" vinyl set compiling both The Crackle Of My Soul (2009) & Up Here In The Clouds (2010) albums, plus limited edition 7" tracks (2003). Cindytalk have been active since 1982. During the '80s and '90s, their sound was defined by broken-down rock structures and abstract piano ambience. A third side to their coin emerged at the dawn of the 21st century with a turn towards obscure computer usage pushing all resemblance of melody and conventional texture to the outer edges. The Crackle Of My Soul is the first full-length to come from this new direction, starting in 2001 and now finally ready for release. It's also the first Cindytalk album since the 1995 release of Wappinschaw. Although very abstract in nature, these 10 tracks still echo the vocal brilliance and subtle beauty that they have become known for. Up Here In The Clouds is the second installment in the new Cindytalk sound which started with The Crackle Of My Soul. Whereas Crackle was more of a blistering burner, Clouds has a fresher, cooler sound to it, with longer tracks that slowly evolve in great patches of aural beauty. The sound that Gordon Sharp and company create now is a unique blend of cracked electronics -- near-awkward ambient textures that always seem to flow smoothly like the most natural of sounds around, building up a great set of modern electronic music which closes with the child-like melody of the title track. The coupling of Transgender Warrior and Guts Of London was originally released as a limited edition 7" by Klanggalerie in 2003. Cut at Dubplates & Mastering, Berlin, August 2010.

This is the first in a series of already-finished releases from Cindytalk, which will see the light of day throughout 2010. "And if there is still one hellish, truly accursed thing in our time, it is our artistic dallying with forms, instead of being like victims burnt at the stake, signaling through the flames." --Antonin Artaud. Written and recorded by Gordon Sharp at Belmont Shore (CA), Mid-Levels (HK) & Kobe (Japan) 2001-2009. Mastered at Piethopraxis, July 2009. Dedicated to Matt Kinnison (1965-2008).

"Bluesanct is incredibly excited that the third release in our Art Singles series is by one of our all-time favourite artists, Cindytalk. This time it will be a 10", to facilitate the sonics involved. One-sided vinyl with a screen-printed B-side and printed sleeve. Silver Shoals Of Flight is quintessential Cindytalk... written and produced by Gordon Sharp and Matt Kinnison. Drum machine ticks along gorgeous bass pulses up against Gordon's vocals. Leading to a climax of bliss and dissonance. For those not familiar with Cindytalk's work, it is a sound that straddles several genres at once. Ambient-abstract-industrial-cinematic-glitch post-punk. Gordon Sharp was at one time perhaps best known for lending his angelic voice to several tracks on This Mortal Coil's classic masterpiece It'll End In Tears (4AD, 1984), but those tracks are nothing but a footnote in history for Sharp and Cindytalk. Since 1982, Cindytalk has recorded half a dozen fiercely challenging albums of devastating beauty. And there is no end in sight for this seminal group. Limited to 500 copies, on black vinyl, with pearl ink."
