Gilead Mishory was born in 1960 in Jerusalem and studied at the Rubin Academy. On the recommendation of Alfred Brendel he completed his studies with Gerhard Oppitz in Munich and with Hans Leygraf at the Salzburg Mozarteum. Gilead Mishory is the first pianist to have recorded the complete piano works and chamber music with piano by Leos Janáček. Enthusiastic reviewers describe him as "a magician of sound," "a technically perfect poet of the piano," and "a pianist with a sense of sound, charm and esprit." Since 2000 Gilead Mishory has been a full professor at the renowned University of Music in Freiburg, succeeding Carl Seemann, Robert D. Levin, and Michel Béroff. He is regularly invited to give master classes all over the world. This disc contains his performances of Muzio Clementi's Sonata in G minor "Didone abbandonata" (1821), his own An Aeneas / To Aeneas / À Énée, and his 2011 arrangement of Giuseppe Tartini's Sonata in G minor "Didone abbandonata" (1731).
