HAKT 010EP
|
Have A Killer Time Recordings proudly presents Lie to Me, the latest diamond in the rough by DJ/producer/label-owner Anthony Collins. The title-track's raw, gritty, in-your-face, pounding bass line immediately captivates, gradually building up to an unforgettable vocal drop. A nod to old school Chicago and ghetto house, Big Willy's grimy, infectious vocal work brings the track to life. Following suit is the markedly calmer but equally throbbing jam, "Swing State." Though it relies on a similar old school style as its antecedent, the EP's second single remains an instrumental track. Finishing off is a dub version of "Lie to Me" by Collins' label companion Francis Harris under his Lightbluemover alias.

CURLE 036EP
|
This is Anthony Collins' fourth release on Curle already, if you don't count the Nina Kraviz & Los Updates remix EP. Fans of "Another Lonely Night" will most definitely also dig "Don't Look Down Now," although it's a little deeper and more minimal, maybe. But the surprise on this release is without a doubt the 9'+ remix from Roman Flügel. This release, my friends, is going to be a summer anthem.

MULE 066EP
|
This is the second release by French producer Anthony Collins on Mule Electronic. "Away From Home" has an early-'90s house and updated Nuyorican soul sound. If you like recent underground U.S. house, you will like this song's modern take. "Hanging On" is a jazzy, tribal, minimal house modern DJ tool.

CURLE 022EP
|
This is the third release from Anthony Collins on Curle. "Another Lonely Night" might sound a bit different compared to what you're used to on Curle, but what the heck, it's a brilliant track. This is house music, but not the loopy, tribal sound you're so used to hearing by now -- stuff actually happens and keeps happening throughout the tracks -- and it's not just all outdated disco loops. This is genuine music coming from a bruised heart.

Freak n' Chic anticipates Anthony Collins' debut LP Doubts & Shouts with a second vinyl sampler containing remixes from Losoul and Seuil. Losoul retains the melancholic vibe on "Tango Bizarre," but gives it a slightly tweaky, jazz-inflected twist with that classic Losoul groove. Seuil reworked "Prism" -- a 12-minute percussive houser and a real album highlight. Seuil boils the percussion down to a simmering, undulating interpretation where the bass does all the work. Two superb remixes, two superb tracks.

CURLE 019EP
|
Following his highly-acclaimed debut album Doubts & Shouts (FNC 004CD), Anthony Collins delivers his brilliant second EP for Curle. "Reeves," the title track from his first Curle EP, ended up on a Circoloco compilation and on Sven Väth's Sound Of The Ninth Season and is one of the biggest tracks on the label to date. These are two more deep, deep house tracks that will certainly appeal to fans of Anthony's releases on Curle, Cécille, Vakant and Bangbang.

MULE 058EP
|
Anthony Collins is a French producer who has released on labels such as Cecille, Get Physical, and Freak N' Chic. The original version of "Upright Bass" is tribal, jackin' minimal house with a playful Latin touch. The Foog remix is very different from the original, changing to an outright monster techno track quite suitable for peak-time.

Freak 'n Chic begin their 2009 album assault with much-hyped Anthony Collins and his debut long-player, Doubts & Shouts. Collins has developed a formidable reputation through his old school/new school take on house music, and his releases on Get Physical, Liebe*Detail, Bang Bang, Cecille, Curle, Vakant and Freak n'Chic have seen support from just about every jock worth their salt. Doubts & Shouts looks set to further that reputation with 10 new tracks which manage to sum up Collins' dancefloor credentials while equally appealing to a home-listening environment. The Paris-based producer has a style balanced between U.S. percussive, almost Afrobeat grooves and traditionally European production techniques and melodies which perhaps betrays his upbringing in both New York and the South of France. Either way, a strong theme runs throughout Doubts & Shouts in the form of a combination of unfaltering grooves, atmosphere and frankly astonishing mode production techniques which manage to stand out yet remain subtle at the same time. Whether it be the more laidback tracks like "Fragile" or "Blossom," or the unmistakable dancefloor burners such as "Mist" or "Mondays," this strong theme draws the album together as a whole and makes it sound complete. Some outstanding keyboard work really shines on Doubts & Shouts too, which further displays the sort of prodigious talent this young producer has beyond simple dancefloor workouts.

Anthony Collins is one of the safest pair of hands in house right now, because every release he puts out is both high quality and individual. Taken from Doubts & Shouts, "Prism" is Collins at his hip-swinging best, taking in elements of Detroit techno, NY house and modern tech-house and carefully intertwining them. Collins teams up with Tony Rodriguez aka Brothers' Vibe for "Raw Vibes." Rodriguez's drum-fuelled NY house speaks volumes, and paired with Collins, it's a match made in heaven.

Due to high demand, Anthony Collins' Rabouine House EP gets a remix package from Freak n'Chic talents Dyed Soundorom and Seuil. We already know about the original -- pure rhythm and groove. So why work on it? Because Dyed Soundorom knows how to hold a groove and tease it, while teasing you in the process. Using only the backbone elements of the original, Dyed works the groove to maximum tension. Seuil uses heavy percussive elements, some Spanish guitar strings and an undeniable house/funk-laden groove that pushes you on and on.

FNC 028EP

DJ/producer Anthony Collins is a rising star on the French house and techno scene with his mix of deep house, house, minimal and deep tech. "Rabouine House" is heavy on the percussion and bass, with a Spanish guitar interlude and Italian/Turkish chanting vocals throughout. Pure rhythm and groove. Mikael Stavöstrand's mix takes it slower and darker, working dubbed-out percussion and in-and-out vocal clips for a slightly horizontal effect.

HIGH 044EP
|
"A new guest artist signing for Highgrade, Antony Collins, one of France's upcoming stars in the minimal/deep house scene comes up with his Cannibale EP for Highgrade. After some successful releases on various European labels, such as Darkroom Dubs (Soma Sublabel), Miniscetch or Get Physical, to name a few, Antony chose a real man-eater track for his Highgrade debut -- 'Cannibale' is a glittering, long and deep journey into the heart of modern deep-house. Tom Clark and Daniel Dreier as remixers tear up all the meat from the track giving it a typical Berlin-style treatment resulting in a dry and hypnotic groove (for those who know). Last but not least, Antony's 'BlaBlaBla,' a euphoric and deep bow towards early tech-house (nu groove, etc.) sums up this perfect debut."

"The rising star from Paris has already released on Get Physical, Paradigma, and a bunch of other labels. For this epic 2-tracker he delivers us his special blend of dark, retro electronica underpinned with solid modern dancefloor beats and represents the top of underground electronic club music. If you're looking after something different, something that sticks out of the minimal genre, something classic retro while looking further, something that kicks it in the club, then this could well be it."

PARAD 003EP
|
"Anthony Collins, a French artist who although being only twenty-three years old, gathers an amazing background in labels such as Players Paradise, Criminal Rec. or Infant. Now he settles down in Paradigma with this 'Pop-off E.P.,' which means another style turnaround for Paradigma Musik, the third one, that shows again their wish not to be stuck in any specific sound. The track that names the maxi bets on digital house, full of melody and with minimal cadenza, showing that repetitive rhythms don't have to be cold at all. This fact is confirmed by Ludovic Vendi's remix, another French fellow who we all know from his superb maxis with Dialect, Gourmet or Was Kids. Vendi contributes with more strength and hypnotism to the melody, giving more dance floor consistency. The next two tracks completing this release are: 'Chocopistache,' launched as a more introspective, melodic and evocative track. Perfect to end sessions or to start a long set full of vanguard sounds. 'Face It,' dancefloor-focused and intimate, we believe it is going to be ideal for DJ's who go one step beyond when choosing their vinyls, always with a fair ratio between quality and quantity. Just like Paradigma. Anthony Collins is Paradigma's future gamble. Marc Marzenit and Paul Ritch were the first ones, the list keeps growing up, so does Paradigma."
