Diabologum is one of the most important French band of the '90s. Founded by Michel Cloup (Peter) and Arnaud Michniak (Tadz) in Toulouse (Occitania), they combine elements of noisy rock, sophisticated pop, and collage techniques. They were the first band of their generation to introduce a new form of realistic or nihilistic speaking phrasing. A French Sonic Youth.

2015 expanded reissue; originally released in 1996. After two albums that did not reach a wider audience -- C'était un Lundi Après-Midi Semblable aux Autres....... (1993) and Le Goût du Jour (1994) -- Diabologum, a group of four 25-year-old inhabitants of Toulouse, released #3, an album that was to go down in history for its originality, radical nature, and pure talent. French magazine Les Inrockuptibles called it "a firebomb in the world of French rock," and put Diabologum, who were pretty much unknown at the time, on its cover. The album captivates with its daring combinations, contrasts, and transitions and its uncompromising experiments with structured formats, reinventing rock grammar while standing as a coherent whole. A strange, disturbing, hard-hitting, and elusive mix of incisive and visceral electric guitars, dissonance, piano, synth and guitar melodies, varied rhythms, eclectic samples, and sounds of an unknown nature.
