Since his first appearance on Running Back in 2009, Robert Dietz did a marvelous job staying on his toes as a producer and DJ. Rejuve-Nation showcases his talent in various alleys of electronic (dance) music with "Crane Song" being the prime cut here. You will get exposed to proggy house with an intelligent brush in two slightly different mixes. Imagine if Euro dance went to get a college degree or a bumper car floor and you are almost there: an almost irresistible sing a long without lyrics. If you need help afterwards, "Deranged Self Therapy" is exactly what you need. IDM meets new wave drums, poignant synths mix with an upbeat hook to create a ballet piece for lovesick robots. "Centro Di Gravita" reconnects those qualities with the aforementioned "Crane Song" ones, while giving it an acid spin, before the ambient salts of "Any Plan(t)s This Weekend" closes the album off like a confident sketch for the end of a beautiful summer. A bouquet of bangers for different needs.

PLAYRJC 069EP
|
Former Rhein-Main homie and Robert Johnson resident Robert Dietz finally has its debut release on Live At Robert Johnson at Catalogue No. 069, which (as you may know) is the local area code of both Frankfurt and Offenbach am Main -- where the Robert Johnson Club still holds strong. Being a seasoned DJ and producer, Robert Dietz surely sets the controls to a four-track vinyl, with pleasing electroid-technoid sonic textures and subtle acid figures, throughout this EP. With its playful and uplifting vibe, "Kirby" might just be inspired by the jump'n'run character by the same name, who may be easily imagined along that happy Acid bassline bubbling amidst synth-pads and electroid beats. "Honey Stash" relies on a 303-esque hook bolted on a solid four-to-the-floor kick drum, which soon evolves into an acid-trancey flair, thanks to some kind of mangled reverb introduced at the end of the first third. By adding a vocal sample and steady-handed work on the filter section, this track provides extra energy for the next levels to come. "Swallowing Tubes" has that soft yet driving electro aesthetic, pads, and arpeggio, reminiscent of morning hours in decades' past. "WAW" completes this EP with a melancholic vibe on a straight beat, haunting vowel-pads, and lots of sonic space in-between its harmonic elements.

MISFIT 006EP
|
With the second record for Misfit Melodies and the fourth for the Running Back universe, Robert Dietz solidifies and hones his very own sound. Heartfelt and emotive, a slice of lovers acid works as the prelude to an EP of IDM patterns and classic house tropes, It's something that is as much fun as it is funky. Great Hormones At Bed Time EP owes the same amount of money to Detroit as it does to Frankfurt am Main. Definitely no lullabies here.

Five tracks made in Berlin in the lousy summer months of 2017, in a spirit of nostalgia for the better days. It's about house and a bit of electro, no gimmicks.

CADENZA 068EP
|
Robert Dietz joins Cadenza for the second time with the Slinger EP. Eclipsing the A-side is the percussion-heavy show-stopper "Pandemic." Infused with sheer funk and relentless groove, "Pandemic" screams of sweat-drenched dancefloors, grinding movement and unstoppable force. On the flip, "Red Tops" is an adrenaline-pumped fairground ride; exhilarating, dangerous and manic, the smacking hand claps, jazzy cymbal crashes and spiralling drum rolls make way for a lush and rolling b-line with speeding hats.

CADENZA 052EP
|
Robert Dietz's "Soup Opera" is a stand-up bass burner that puts house sounds to techno purposes; it's a wolf in sheep's clothing, a rainstorm that leaves you drenched. Raw, Chicago hi-hats lash out against a rising/falling bass line as mid-range drones and fluttering tones keep frothing higher and higher. The way he mans the filters feels more like sculpture than music, carving away the bass to create a dizzying sense of floating in space, until gravity comes crashing down again.

"Ain't no stopping us now. Even if you might feel that the release pressure is on, we just cannot help to put out these gems (at least, we think that's what they are). What you hold in your hands (or on your laptop) is neo-house of the finest order. Rhein-Main kid Robert Dietz (Cécille, Be Chosen etc.) was so kind to share his definition of h-muzik with us. To put it in a nutshell: 'Forward Snipping' slices and cuts some nice vocal bits in a true ear candy way. Even my brother gets goose bumps. 'Witness' sounds like a lost K.O.T. track. 'Faber Mix' is a disc jockey tool that brings you from A to B or even Z. And please, always keep Paul 'Trouble' Anderson in mind: A house is where you live in and a garage is where you park your car. Loop d' Loop!"
