"Almost one year after their musical hiking day, their 'Wandertag' to the winter state of Mecklenburg, the two Berlin gents Dreher & Smart return to Acker. Once again they tinkle the ivories of their very own keyboard of unmistakable groove and start playing some considerable hypnotic chords this time. A bubbling bass brew and discreet but pretty twisted rhythm constructions form the basis of 'Flick Flack.' The mysterious wind player samples and sound effects, that hover apparently weightless above those, lend a dramatic- cinematic expression to the track. 'Hirnholz,' meaning something like brain-wood, keeps what its name implies with a distinct forcing thrust in its lower frequency spectrum, that evolves quite some mass appeal together with crunching and clicking background noises. Finally the 'Spiegelkabinett,' the hall of mirrors, is haunted by pregnant with meaning voice recordings which complete with the dreamy, melodic character and the organic bass line of this track."

"There is for sure no lack of electronic music producers in the German capital. But in contrast to most of their colleagues, Dreher & Smart were really born in Berlin what becomes obvious already after the first verbal exchange. In the beginning of February they left their urban sphere and headed towards day. Through snow-covered forests and past frozen lakes, they finally arrived at the cozy Dacha on the ground of Fusion festival where the Fortschritt3000 crew welcomed them very heartily. Little by little, more and more guests arrived and the evening became more and more frisky and social. And so, Dreher & Smart soon unpacked their music machines and serenaded the audience. They set all the experiences from their eventful day to music and so also the recording became very entertaining and exciting. On a continuously forcing groove, varied sound constructions unfold, which lead from trippy-minimal deepness over hypnotic melodies and through huge reverb rooms to distinctive percussive take offs. The unobtrusive reactions from the dance floor mixed into confer Wandertag its authentic live atmosphere and increase the anyhow very strong pressure of this recording."

"A really good meal should contain some variety, not only because tastes are different but also because this ingredient introduces the certain excitement. Two dudes who really know how to mash up an electronic menu are Dreher & Smart, who serve us two delicious filet pieces of contemporary dance music on this fresh 3000 vinyl as a preview for their upcoming live album Wandertag. The A side track 'Brust oder Keule' refers to the original idea of minimal, and therefore comes in a very slender and sporty way: With only few sounds it establishes a remarkable amount of pressure and drive. On the flipside, Funkwerkstatt's interpretation of the original remains the reduced style but turns to a laid back but still inspiring mood, using some funny clicker sound and decently placed vocals. 'Beside that Man' delivers another variety: A truly massive bass line forms the foundation for a lush arrangement of nested percussions, trippy sound effects and fluffy melodies- irresistible for party people's inherent urge to dance!"

"Mystical, oriental & long upbuilding raw house grooves; including a remix by Matt John (Perlon/Bar25)."
