WLTD 021EP

Wolfskuil label boss Darko Esser releases a conceptual EP, Out of Context. We all can relate to the feeling of being out of touch with our environment and the people around us. Darko translated these abstract feelings into a soundtrack in three parts ("Space," "Time," "Translation"), and the result is a soundtrack that is quite moody, hypnotic and multi-layered. It's dub and Detroit-techno, Esser style. These are melodies wrapped in abstract sound design, with both a happy and sad atmosphere.

WOLF 017.4EP
|
This is the fourth volume in a series of 12"s containing tracks from Darko Esser's album Balans (WOLF 001CD/LP). For the fourth and last part, Darko has asked his good friends Gene Le Fosse, Giorgos Gatzigristos, Warren Fellow and Piet van Dongen for a proper rework. Gene delivers a solid roller, with a drive like an unstoppable techno train, while Giorgos' version is experimental in nature, without losing sight of a proper hook. Quirky sounds, heavy effects.

WOLF 017.3EP
|
This is the third volume in a series of 12"s containing tracks from Darko Esser's album Balans (WOLF 001CD/LP). Chymera kicks off a proper old-school mix, which brings to mind timeless, early '90s E-Dancer and Reese compositions. He makes the bass line bite, growl and howl like the best Saunderson productions back in the day. More Detroit vibes on the regular remix, which takes a bit of the acid out of the original and replaces it with those melancholic Motor City strings.

WOLF 017.2EP
|
Wolfskuil Records presents part 2 of a 4-part series of remixes from Darko Esser's debut album Balans. Claro Intelecto makes "The Return" a square bass extravaganza and more house-oriented than ever. Benny Rodrigues' re-rub of "The Goodbye Song" is a slow, hypnotic builder that has been causing mayhem. There are also two remixes from Stephen Brown -- mix #1 of "Fix" is a jacking Chicago dancefloor tool, whereas mix #2 goes deep into the Detroit realms for some proper emo techno.

WOLF 017.1EP
|
Wolfskuil Records presents part 1 of a 4-part series of remixes from Darko Esser's debut album Balans. Nicolas Masseyeff turns the ambient/electronica of "Teardrops" into an epic dancefloor track. André Lodemann remixed the title track and created a beautiful deep house tune where everything is completely balanced. Darko's musical partner in crime Nuno Dos Santos remixed "Teardrops" into stunning electronica for the floor.

WOLF 001LP
|
2x12" version. This is the debut full-length release by Dutch DJ/producer and Wolfskuil label-head, Darko Esser. Music, work, friends and life in general is all about balance -- especially about finding and keeping that balance despite all the contradictions, rollercoaster-rides and paradoxes life can put in front of you. Besides his signature dancefloor-oriented music, Balans also showcases a different side of Darko -- he experiments with different tempos (listen to the downtempo electronica of "Broken" and "The Goodbye Song," for example), structures (hear the freaked-out beats versus emotion-ridden melodies on "Dobro Jutro"), melodies (the multilayered and detailed ambient on "Teardrops,") and of course, rhythms, expressed beautifully on "Pechvogel," where amen-breaks battle with 4/4 rhythms.

Most tracks on the album have opposing titles and the atmosphere changes from dark, moody and emotional to uplifting, cheerful and happy, sometimes even within the same track, as can be heard in full effect on "Balans." One could musically summarize the whole album as an in-depth excursion into the world of melody, resulting in catchy yet unusually-arranged compositions. The first feedback on the album has been overwhelming, and "Teardrops" has already been licensed as the closing-track on Dave Seaman's Renaissance Master Series compilation. Balans is the first artist album to come out on Wolfskuil Records, and it will certainly not be the last.

DIEBAUDIO 009EP

"Our next release, Relieve EP, comes from Darko Esser, owner of Wolfskuil Records and with releases on Josh Wink's Ovum and DJ Yellow's Pousezz! records. This EP contains two original tech house tracks, 'Relieve' and 'Running Far Away' and two remixes. Regarding the originals, Darko delivers two tech house/melodic peaces of art, with an old school feel in to them. On the remix front, for the A side, we bring you Gregor Tresher, who needs no introduction. Gregor remixed 'Relieve,' and by keeping it simple, he delivered a techno bomb for the dance floors. On the B side, Wollion, Sandrino & Adryan aka Lemon Popsicle, deliver an absolute emotive tech house remix of the original 'Running Far Away.' Once again there is a wide variety of mixes on offer here, sure to find favor with a diverse spectrum of listener and/or DJ."

"Label boss Darko Esser is on duty for the 4th release on the Ltd subdivision of Wolfskuil Records. Exploring more deeper and abstract paths with 'Cold Feet,' a moody wintersong revolving around desolate ambient soundscapes, glitchy rhythms and a catchy hook. UK's supertalent Tommy Four Seven returns the favor for Darko's 'Deer Code' remix on the flip and delivers a devastating psychedelic trip, turning 'Cold Feet' into a modern day underground techno-anthem. The vinyl release will be highly limited to 300 copies green transparent vinyl for all you collectors out there!"

"The limited series reaches its fifth installment with Thinking About You. And Darko Esser is going very deep on this one. The title track was originally due for release on the Poussez Music imprint from DJ Yellow, before the label got discontinued. The track is dedicated to the important women in Darko's life and was originally picked up by Laurent Garnier and Ame amongst others. Now finally it get's released on sparkling blue transparent vinyl! The vocal hook and ¾ bassline grab instant attention building gradually up and down throughout the track accompanied by a constant irresistible groove. 'Nostalgie' on the flip follows the same musical guidelines, but with classically arranged strings and vibraphone melodies on top of the ongoing rhythmic exercise. The atmosphere is optimistic, spring is in the air!"
