Factory Floor was originally commissioned by curator Chris Bell of London's Science Museum to write a live score for Fritz Lang's 1927 silent cinematic landmark, Metropolis. Widely regarded as a pioneering work of science fiction, Metropolis depicts a dystopian future where a city's downtrodden, exploited underclass of workers secretly plot a revolt. The 150-minute brand new score was first performed at the Science Museum's IMAX on April 28th 2017, coinciding with the 90th anniversary release of Metropolis and as part of the acclaimed Robots exhibition and event series. Following the success of the London Science Museum event, Factory Floor took to the studio to record the score in its entirety. Mixed by Nik Void, except for "Heart Of Data" and "Babel" which were mixed by award-winning producer Marta Salogni. The box set includes the entire 2.5 hours of the reimagined score on four 12" records. Artwork by British artist Haroon Mirza adapted and arranged by Nik Void in collaboration with illustrator Sam Moore.

Factory Floor presents two tracks from their score for Fritz Lang's Metropolis. "Transform" reveals itself in a haze of accumulating ambience and scattered percussion. The slow tempo and atmospheric wash of synths and electronics on "Wonder" offer a hesitant hush in contrast.

Factory Floor was commissioned by London's Science Museum to write a brand new live score for Fritz Lang's 1927 silent cinematic landmark, Metropolis. The 150-minute score was performed in April 2017 and coincided with the 90th anniversary release of Metropolis. This 12" marks the first release on Factory Floor's own imprint, Heart Of Data Records. An inspired six-and-half minute track, "Heart Of Data" is an animated modular synth groove sets in motion the atmospheric textures within the spatial arrangement. "Babel" traverses many scenes in the film and retains a transient meditative pulse in pursuit of space and time.

Things are going well for the London-based trio Factory Floor: Nik Colk (guitar/vocals/electronics), Gabe Gurnsey (drums/ electronics) and Dom Butler (electronics/vocals). The Optimo (Espacio) mix was made at the behest of Factory Floor and was done by Optimo Music head honcho JD Twitch alongside his sometime collaborator Dave Clark. Props already from James Holden, The Quietus and more.

Limited to 1,000 copies only. Factory Floor releases the first in their series of limited edition 12" remixes. Stephen Morris, drummer and rhythm programmer for music legends Joy Division & New Order, brings his unique, bleak Northern soulfulness to Factory Floor's fierce "Wooden Box." Stephen's an FF fan; he's already been to three live shows and is now producer for the band's next round of recordings. Also by request is a louder-than-god cut of the death-disco fave "Lying."
