MOBILEE 040EP
|
Mobilee welcomes a techno veteran to the fold, Russ Gabriel: since 1993, he and his Ferox label have helped define the sound of UK techno, merging elements from Detroit and Chicago into a sound that stands on its own. "React" opens with softly pumping chords and handclaps cloaked in faraway reverb and minor-key detailing that creeps in from the corners like spiders. "The Fall Guy" plays with cotton-y chords, gentle syncopations, and gauzy filters that stretch out and take time.

"This release shows my gratitude to one of the legendary labels and techno artists: Ferox and label owner Russ Gabriel. The first release on this highly influential label was back in 1993. After listening to the infamous Mixmag CD by Richie Hawtin, I was hypnotized by the way these Ferox records sounded. Ferox was one of the first UK techno labels. Their sound was inspired by Detroit techno but what they created was something completely new! This conquered many people's hearts including mine."
