CNTXTS 1002EP
|
From the mouth of Lil' Dirrty (featured on the B-side): "We heard y'all thought TuningSpork was dead? I'm here to say like a phoenix we rose from the ashes. This is a techno record about propaganda and the politics of fear. This is music AGAINST war. Join us on a journey of peace through beats and spoken word -- then see for yourself, is it true? Oh, and btw. fuck Contexterrior for now, this is a TuningSpork Record. Signed, Lil' Dirrty, Zürich Langstrasse 2015. P.S. Remember to choose love over fear and never become a slave to any train of thought."

Michal Ho returns to Tuning Spork for his first release of all new material since last fall's highly acclaimed Screw the Coffeemaker album. Michal is sticking to what he likes best: stripped-down, funk-infused club tracks. "Groove to Me" features Jamaican-born JonJon's soulful vocals chopped up and subverted into oblivion. "Bootyjazz" is underscored by a slinky descending bassline and interjections of sax synth, while "Jack It Out" has a more percussive swagger.

JUNION 006EP
|
"Having released one of 2006's best EPs, 'Econoclast,' on Tuning Spork, Michal Ho makes his Junion debut with another hot 4 tracker. 'Cassecade' brings the deepness we've come to expect from Mr. Ho, rattling effects and a warped riff make this a stomping 5am monster. 'Gimme Me Some Back' meanwhile is the perfect set starter, with a relentless melodic hook built around swirling static and snappy hi-hats. '50 Pants' takes things up a notch, with garbled vocals, and the funkiest drum programming this side of the Atlantic, making sure this record will contort any floor. Finally 'Zerogiro' (it rhymes if you're Italian), takes things in a more cosmic direction. With a melody that sounds like a music box and waves of hissing fx, this track keeps the locomotive feel of the EP and is a DJ's dream. 4 tracks +4 different styles =a perfect 12"."

"Michal Ho returns with a slick and bumping bomb for the Tuningspork masses! After his debut as a solo artist on the Frisky EP, Michal decided to keep to that same infectious, stripped-down vibe that immediately won over the hearts of such DJ/producers like Ricardo Villalobos, Richie Hawtin and Steve Bug. With this EP Michal drops things down a notch, and magically becomes an undercover-lover, with this new role in mind he decides to squirm it up with bleeps, beeps, squiggles and lots of jiggles. The end result is a minimal, bleepy, bumping house record sure to be rotating on many Technics 12"s."

"After Samim's solo release it is only proper that Michal's first solo release on Tuning Spork will follow. The tall member of the dynamic duo that brought you such hits as 'She's Got the F' and 'Ripop' is wasting no time and bringing out the big guns. Four dance floor destroyers are compactly packed here ready to tear any club to pieces and make many ladies shake that booty. Even though Michal does not own a driver's license or possess any piloting skills he has a very advanced degree in creating ass shaking minimal booty house. Michal kicks the party into action with 'Kiss the Wasp.' A sex drippin' lick with a hypnotic vibe. Expect some more tricks and licks from this Zurich son as well as other wonderful releases from our sister labels Contexterrior and the ever mysterious Tuning Spork Family Affair."
