Denmark's Jatoma presents remixes of two tracks from their Kompakt debut (KOMP 086CD/KOM 219LP). "Little Houseboat" is remade by Kenton Slash Demon, who wrap a wondrous tribal beat around the gorgeous fluency of the original harmonies. Pom Pom also do their own interpretation, creating an unstoppable force in techno mayhem. Lucky Dragons come together with a psychedelic sea of sonic bliss and "Dust In Wong" is mixed by none other than Dustin Wong himself!

This is the debut full-length album by mysterious electronic act Jatoma -- cloaked in paradoxes and already questioned by many. Some think that one of the members is a famed producer amongst two genius teenagers. Other theories include that they are a side act for a highly-regarded band. Some will speculate they are just trying to get more attention by remaining unknown. The facts remain blurry and ambiguous, but there remains a clear authenticity surrounding these factors -- Jatoma are clearly one of 2010's most inventive new acts. Michael Mayer at Kompakt was immediately drawn to their combination of the synthetic and the futuristic. Sounds on this album include the cutting of carrots and cereal being poured into a bowl conjoined with hand-claps and vocals, drums, guitars and electronics. The first track (and lead-off single) "Little House Boat" flickers and modulates in a waterfall of harmonious oscillation. These are sounds that are as hard to place as the members' names and set a strong overall tone for this album. The momentum of an acoustic 4/4 kick drum drives you through the blissful "Manipurma," "Durian" has a groovy house momentum that chimes with the keys of a child's imagination. "Bou" is a dancefloor rollout that straddles the best of James Holden's creative zeal and their apparent love for the subversive. Ambient crooners like "Permafrost" and "Ma10as" will leave you washed ashore, gasping for breath, only to be submerged again by the unfathomable finale "Luvdisc."
