PLUS 8128EP
Julian Jeweil's profile as a contemporary techno titan continues to grow on Plus 8. This EP opens with the titular track, "Bastard," a rolling, cyclical techno groove with slapping drums and a dark, heavily filtered vocal loop. "Hey You" has just as firm and rubbery a bottom-end, but here, the iron-like synths bring a little funk. On "The Gang," Jeweil lays down a restless, paranoid arrangement that sounds infected by alien spaceships. Closing out is "Zoulou," another steely techno stomper.

PLUS 8120EP
Julian Jeweil's second EP on Plus 8 confirms Jeweil's status as one of techno's most reliable talents. "Hermanos" is a thunderous affair where tight, bobbling basslines quickly unravel to expose a housier percussive line and kick drum. "Tabasco" features micro clicks and blips bubbling around an undulate beat structure that hits hard and deep. "Circus" is another streamlined, urgent, minimalistic affair that establishes a groove before peppering it with abstract, alien sounds. "Juice" delves into the darkened nether-regions of minimal techno's underbelly.

COR 070EP
DJ/producer Julian Jeweil belongs to the electronic music scene in Marseille, cultural center of the French Riviera. His collaborations with and remixes for Oxia, Scan X, Danton Eeprom and Sébastien Léger have cemented his reputation as a promising talent. Color stands for uncompromising and demanding techno in its purest form. The title track features a break with hysterical screaming, and "Amore" builds up more streamline-like in the style of Steve Bug, also with some impressive breaks.
