On The Fly tells about the small moments of the big journey that is the path of jPattersson as a musician: Barefooted gratitude in the shade of a palm tree, a hike through the dreamlike colors of the highlands, a balcony scene with a glass of wine and the view of another galaxy... It's these small moments that fuel his contagious enthusiasm and hope that form the backbone for his signature "jPatterssong-writing". On The Fly is a very personal album that invites you to join the flight yourselves: six of the eight tracks come with the highly stimulating catchiness of a four-to-the-floor beat. Sometimes it's jPattersson's voice that sets the mood, sometimes it's his trumpet, and then again, it's the frequencies of electronically processed harmony which stretch like elastic rubber bands between delicate introspection and buzzing euphoria. A track generously marinated in sunlight and dub as well as a piece of oceanic downbeat relaxation round off this forth jPattersson album just perfectly. "Baila Conmigo" features Macarena Gómez.

Naked feet and warm sand, a salty breeze rustling in the leaves of the palm trees, the intoxicating gravity of an ice-cold bottle in the hand... jPattersson brings up nine shimmering pearls from the dubby depths of his repertoire and adds them to exactly this chain of associations. Mood gives expression to an unquenched thirst for musical innovation and to a growing maturity. While the soul of jPattersson still reverberates through the frequencies of his trumpet and his voice, his third album sounds all new and different again. About half of the tracks have a classic song structure, with all the ensuing catchiness. In-between these tunes there's everything from tropical tipsiness to hypnotic depth. In consequence, it's a wonderful album to listen to from beginning to end -- and at the same time made for the dancefloor. Features Lore and Guacáyo. Remix by Kermesse.

LP version. It's been around three years since JPattersson opened up a whole new horizon of formerly unheard possibilities between the worlds of dub and techno with PROGaDUB (ACKER 005CD/004LP, 2015). A lot has been happening ever since, and that's very noticeable on his second album, Folks & Fanfare. It still has all the signature elements of JPattersson: There's his dreamy, virtuous trumpet play and his witty vocals, there's his dubby delays and heavyweight beats which often line up in a downbeat rhythm. However, besides his fanfares there's now also many folks, many musical friends who contribute to the vibe of this album. There's a track with Berlin MC Longfingah, as well as a stylistically wide range of remixes that reflect the symbiotic cooperation and mutual inspiration of these last years. Also features Superpendejos and Timboletti.

The mix of dub and techno is not exactly new. However, JPatterson found a way to combine these genres in a way that checks all the boxes with Ruehn. The catchiest element of his track "Elevator" is his voice and its contagious casualness. The dub version of this track is a bright summer day turned into rhythm and melody. Dole & Kom redesign it into an understated anthem. Mollono.Bass create an energetic rhythm environment for the weightless trombone that feels like it's vibrating.

It's dub, but reverberating far beyond the genre's borders. It has a summer reggae vibe, but doesn't sound like just another chapter of that good old story. It's perfidiously dope, but at the same time extremely danceable. It has clever lyrics, but it's all about the sound. It's what JPattersson describes as PROGaDUB -- because he's not from Jamaica, he's from East Germany. Inspired by heavyweight bass lines, bicycle rides, and Caribbean riddims; by chocolate, vintage groovebox sounds, and the carefree ruckus of kids playing on the street, the young talent delivers an album that is chiefly progressive and diverse. "We Came in Peace" is built around dynamic chanting and passionate trumpet play. "Ravers Dub" is a smooth mélange of straight beats, mellow offbeat chords, and the psychedelic echoes of a steel drum. The chorus of "Turn Off Your Smartphone" invites one to sing along, and "Vagabond" is a dreamy interplay of handmade music and synthetic groove. Some tracks come with a sublime hint of Balkan sound, some with an air of jazz. In doing what felt right, JPattersson has successfully defined his very own genre: PROGaDUB. CD includes a remix by Pophop.
