With Trip to Sanity, Berlin-based producer, DJ, live performer, and Stil vor Talent label head Oliver Koletzki presents a milestone in his 36-year long musical career and his 18-year tenure at the top of global electronic nightlife -- his tenth studio album. The album's title, Trip to Sanity -- a reference to the classic German children's story of the little dragon "Tabaluga" -- reflects Oliver's own path as a DJ within the world of club culture. In South Africa, Oliver wrote most of Trip to Sanity in the winter, then flashed out and finalized the tracks in his studio at Kreuzberg's Holzmarkt. Within the last 18 months a collection of complex and varied songs formed, which, typical for Oliver's collaborative approach, were often created in cooperation with musicians like techno-pop legend Fritz Kalkbrenner, Burning Man chance encounter Talmirage, scene friends Andhim, Hidden Empire, Oliver Klostermann, and Niko Schwind, or the exceptional voices Natascha Polké, Malou, LOLY, and Marlena Dae. The result is a rollercoaster ride through a diverse spectrum of dance music, effortlessly held together by Koletzki's unmistakable sound signature and his intrinsic sense for the exact tension between hedonistic dancefloor focus and poppy earworm impact.

On Made of Wood, his ninth full-length album since 2007, Oliver Koletzki embodies the seasoned craftsman, carving out his deeply personal sonic sculptures with a confident, learned hand, while experimenting with a broad range of thrilling ideas and fresh textures. The result is an organically flowing, yet decisively shaped work of art, that naturally concludes a trilogy of albums Koletzki embarked on releasing with The Arc of Tension and followed with Fire in the Jungle. Initially written in Tulum, Mexico, during the pre-pandemic winter of 2019, Made of Wood is physically entwined with the primeval forests that continue to inspire its maker: In the subsequent year it took to complete the album in Berlin, Oliver, aided by numerous live musicians and vocalists, brought his sketches to life with a focus on wooden instruments like djembes, marimbas, santoors or duduks, sculpting a natural sound that's warm in timbre, rich in groove and literally made of wood. Thanks to the imperfection of the human hand, the album sings with a bold vibrance that stretches from the LP's slow carnivalesque opener "Caravana De Los Elefantitos" to the blue horns and Wennink's lamenting coos on the concluding ballad "Turn". Intermediately, Koletzki's rhythmic explorations take the shape of mythic odes ("Dear Mexican Jungle"), boisterous tribal dances ("La Veleta"), floor-focused shakers ("Copal'", hand pan-driven epics ("Cryptozoology" featuring Walter Scalzone) or subdued oriental belters ("Serpiente Del Ritmo" featuring ELIH) -- emphasizing his control over light and dark tonalities, over organic and synthetic sounds alike. Most strikingly, Oliver slowly breaks away from the album's natural feel in the mid-section, in which the disorienting, abstract stunner "Picture" (with Niko Schwind and Judith Ahrends) rubs shoulders with the synth-crescendos of the bouncy "Made of Cashmere", while the 14-minute long meditation "A Starseed's Journey" makes for a powerful penultimate breather later on. Next to the meticulous attention to instrumentation and his instinctive touch, these twists and turns underline that Koletzki feels entirely at ease on Made of Wood -- like the true artisan he is.

Part homage, part prophecy: Fire in the Jungle is the eighth studio album from Berlin-based DJ, producer, and label owner Oliver Koletzki, released by Stil vor Talent. With sounds as diverse as the stamps collected in Koletzki's passport over the past 18 months, Fire in the Jungle is a statement in itself: complex, verdant, the product of years of growth. From the arid desert tundra of Australia, to the lush turquoise beaches and sacred sites of Mexico, to the dusty Playa of Burning Man: these rich and varied landscapes, people, experiences have strongly influenced Koletzki in the production of this multifaceted masterpiece. Musical maestro and storyteller Koletzki expertly weaves live instruments with a range of electronic music production techniques, with producers Sam Shure, Township Rebellion, Hidden Empire, Niko Schwind, and Cioz taking listeners on an extraordinary aural peregrination of genres and styles. Lyrical and vocal collaborations with Monolink, Aparde, Temple Haze, and Lisa Who are layered with Koletzki's signature sound, adding their unique influence to this distinctive album. Running the gamut from full-power, bass-heavy dancefloor anthems to slower, more sultry tracks, the dramaturgy of this album is matched only by the eclectic exotica and psychedelia of the jungle. As the Amazonian jungle burns, this versatile and thought-provoking album raises important questions about what sustains and asks you to reconsider the egoism and laziness of the human species. One thing is certain: Fire in the Jungle will set your feet, heart and mind ablaze.

Over the years, Berlin has been cited as Oliver Koletzki's main point of reference and, more importantly, his endless source of inspiration. His albums Grossstadtmarchen (SVT 037CD, 2009) and Grossstadtmarchen 2, released in two parts (SVT 075LP/SVT 080LP, 2012), are whole-hearted tributes of the German capital, as its importance is continuously hinted and charted. Friedrichshain, one of Berlin's vibrant districts, has always held a special place in Oliver's heart. This is where he started out when he first moved to the city, and this is where he lives now. Kreuzberg's wall paintings adorn Stil Vor Talent's cover sleeves and host their headquarters. There are little to no corners in the city that haven't brought a spark of inspiration into the mix. The Schneeweiss compilation series, now at its eighth installment, is built as a form of tribute to all these particles, tied in together into a series of carefully curated tracks. Each compilation stands at the intersection of the musical and cultural surroundings most prominent of their respective times, acting both as a reminder as well as a timeless sound capsule for the years to come. Schneeweiss X features: Rampa, Danito & Athina, Lunar Plane, Niko Schwind, Rauschhaus & Peer Kusiv, Prismode & Solvane, Modeplex, Candy Man, Ikarius & Dhakka, pølaroit, and Malandra Jr..

2024 repress. Stil Vor Talent present the first vinyl issue of Oliver Koletzki's most successful album Großstadtmärchen, originally released in 2009. With Großstadtmärchen, the Berlin-based techno and house producer created a musically compact album, working together with many different singers: Established artists like Mieze Katz from the German electro-pop outfit MIA., the hot German pop-rock-singer Axel Bosse, indie band Kate Mosh as well as newcomers such as Fran, Pyur, and Juli Holz. The result are ten songs that easily fluctuate between catchy pop tracks, modern house grooves, and '80s synthesizer pop, yet it still maintains Koletzki's very own sound dynamic. Großstadtmärchen, which translates as "The Tale Of The Big City" starts off with "This Is Leisure". Famous pop singer Mieze Katz has put down her sexy voice on a guitar-based song pattern that functions as an ideal introduction into the craziness of the big city tales. Juli Holz's softly whispering voice sings about the dilemmas of love in the big city on "Zuckerwatte", a very fine electro-pop tune. Oliver Koletzki and Axel Bosse board an underground train that takes them around the Berlin U-Bahn system and back. Axel Bosse adds his melancholic voice to this groovy pop anthem and sings about the poetic magic of public transport, while the sounds of the trains lay on top. Of course, Koletzki added some purely instrumental tracks on his album, too: "Kusskompatibel" and "Warschauer Straße" are a journey back to Oliver's first years in Berlin and his love for house music. "Kleines Zwischenspiel" also celebrates the energetic sound of electronic music. Then there is another great shine of bright light with the pop track "Hypnotized" that is already making airwaves on German radio. It features the newcomer singer Fran that turns this track into a wonderful electronic love story -- a catchy pop anthem about the first dance, the first kiss and that special moment when the night turns into day. "Headshaped Box" encapsulates what indie-tronic sounds like in the year 2009: symphonic, melodic and simply unique. On "These Habits" the just seventeen-year-old singer Pyur makes her debut. This down-beat trip hop-groove is a wonderful hit for late summer. Oliver Koletzki remixes "Nimm Mich Mit" by the electronic boy-band Die Raketen. Großstadtmärchen is the logical consequence from two decades of intense musical production. It's a mature, yet still playful pop album that manages to combine many different influences into one harmonious oeuvre. Includes download code.

Double LP version. On his sixth album, The Arc Of Tension, the Berlin based DJ, label owner, and producer Oliver Koletzki yet again presents his remarkable vision of contemporary electronic music, while also assuming the role of a storyteller. The Arc Of Tension speaks to its listener as a singular, self-contained work, which communicates by way of its natural flow and arc of suspense. The latter is mirrored not only in the multifarious narrative of the actual album, but can also be understood as evidence for its creator's long musical history. While Koletzki focused on a diverse range of vocal collaborations on his previous long players, he now moves on to a different form of storytelling, rooted in the quiet confidence of a veteran musician, as well as the hectic lifestyle of a globally in demand DJ. The Arc Of Tension is a psychonautic journey through the various continents of Oliver's consciousness. The quiet chirps and warbles, which initially unfold on the opener "A Tribe Called Kotori", thus act as a loose associative bridge to Der Mückenschwarm, Oliver's big breakthrough hit of 2005. The first minutes of the album leave no room for doubt -- the listener is immediately locked into and captivated by an autobiographical world of sound. The dreamy, exotic timbres of the downbeat tracks "By My Side", "Tankwa Town", and "Byron Bay" are penetrating, but in a subtle yet purposeful manner. But soon the tension tightens and organic sounds, one-by-one, evolve towards a sterner, electronic cadence. The bittersweet neon synths of "Spiritual But Not Religious" pave the way for the complex rhythm of "A Star Called Akasha", an early highlight carried by melancholic cellos and contemplative piano chords. The ultimate turning point follows with "Through The Darkness". Here, at the album's center, Koletzki starts continuously upping the tempo and leads the way with his very own, melodic interpretation of today's techno Zeitgeist, exemplifying that a fusion of delicate musicality and sheer force leads to impressively ecstatic results. You fully take off into space, weightlessly propelled by the ambient drones of "The Day We Leave Earth". Ultimately, what lingers is the feeling that The Arc Of Tension is a deep glance into the innermost being of an outstanding artist.

Iyéwaye (SVT 149EP, 2015), Oliver Koletzki's first release after the autobiographical I Am OK album (SVT 131LP, 2014), introduced a new facet of his sound. The EP catered to a darker, rawer aesthetic, a direction now followed and deepened by four remixes. Hatzler turns "Iyéwaye" into a lengthy tech-infused introspection. Loco & Jam's makeover of the same track, loosely centered on the vocals, explores its captivating narrative. Hidden Empire's remix of the more rhythm-focused "Ipuza" dials up the percussion's aggression. Zakari & Blange downplay the same track's exotic elements, focusing on the rattling synths in a late-night dancefloor rework.

With Iyéwaye, his first solo EP since the 2014 release of his fifth album, I Am OK (SVT 131LP), Oliver Koletzki appears in a new, but not altogether unfamiliar light; not since his breakthrough in 2005 with Der Mückenschwarm has Koletzki sounded this hard. But even here, in the techno realm, Koletzki demonstrates his inimitable sense for melody; thus, the gloomy, driving framework of "Iyéwaye" is lit up by a crystal-clear synth-sequence. Similarly, "Ipuza," which hypnotizes by way of reduction and repetition, is funky at its core thanks to a rolling tribal groove. Functional, but with heart and soul.

Over the years, Oliver Koletzki has continuously cited Berlin as a point of reference, and, more importantly, a source of inspiration. Friedrichshain, one of Berlin's vibrant districts, has always held a special place in Oliver's heart. This is where he started out when he first moved to the city, and this is where he lives now. Moreover, the Stil vor Talent HQ is situated in the center of the bustling Kiez. So is Schneeweiss, one of Friedrichshain's best and most-loved restaurants. Since its establishment in 2006, the stylish eatery has impressed many a Berlin foodie with its contemporary take on alpine cuisine and attention to detail. Music is part of the experience here, which is no surprise, due to one of the owners' extensive background in the early days of Berlin's club scene. Pairing striking, award-winning interior design with a homey, laid-back atmosphere, Schneeweiss welcomes everyone with open arms: Kiez locals and celebrities, students and businessmen, hipsters and families -- all can be found here, Oliver Koletzki among them. Thus, after many a late-night label dinner, an idea slowly formed: why not join forces and collaborate on a compilation that represents both: Oliver Koletzki's and Schneeweiss' taste? Compiled specifically with the restaurant in mind, Schneeweiss IV is a tasty treat for the music connoisseur and a musical treat for the culinary aficionado. For the fourth installment of the compilation, Koletzki gathers stunning tracks by Agnostica, David Hasert & Matteo Luis featuring Shiah and remixed by Rampue, High Heel Breakers featuring Sarah Palin and remixed by David August, Tobi Kramer featuring Florence Bird, Teenage Mutants & Ed One & Bodden, Boy Next Door remixed by Oliver Koletzki, Eelke Kleijn, Niconé & Sascha Braemer remixed by Limon, Jiggler, Kellerkind, Smash TV, and Koletzki himself. Bon appétit!
