Double LP version. Kornél Kovács's second album is on the way via Studio Barnhus, which he runs with Petter Nordkvist and Axel Boman. Stockholm Marathon sees the Swedish-Hungarian producer, who was born in the Swedish capital, "reflecting a lot on this beautiful, boring city I never quite manage to move away from," he says, after moving back in September of 2018. Kovács credits his "dearest Stockholm people" for making the album his most collaborative and most personal release. That list includes jazz musician Niclas Skagstedt, Matt Karmil, Rebecca & Fiona, and Malin Gabriella Nordin, who did the artwork. The album is his second full-length, following 2016's The Bells (BARN 045CD/LP), also released on Studio Barnhus.

Kornél Kovács, on the go DJ and producer from Stockholm, who co-runs the label Studio Barnhus, delivers his debut EP on Endless Flight. It's a juicy 10", enlarged with super happy emotions. "Szamár" twists with twisted rhythms, samples, and disco sounds. The B side features a remix of the tune "Order To The Sense" by the New Zealand/German duo Snacks. It was originally featured on the I'm Starting To Feel Okay Volume 7 compilation on Mule Musiq (MUSIQ 053CD, 2016). Kornél Kovács transformed it into a melancholic house anthem full of with highlife guitar riffs and smiling horn sounds.

2x12" version. Gatefold sleeve. For the past seven years Kornél Kovács has been busy rocking dancefloors and boom-boxes worldwide as one third of Stockholm's Studio Barnhus alongside Axel Boman and Petter Nordkvist. The label and DJ trio is spearheading a new era of fearless Swedish off-center dance music, straddling the line between cute and menacing. Anticipation for Kovács' debut album has been rocketing following stand out releases like 2014's wistful Szikra (BARN 022EP), last year's mad party anthem "Pantalón" on Glasgow's Numbers imprint and the late night groove of "Space Jam" on Smallville Records (SMALL 044EP, 2015). On The Bells, Kovács pops open his trunk full of sounds nicked from the lost and found bins of nightclubs all over the world. From the distorted organ chords of "BB" to the stripped down trance-hall beats of "Josey's Tune" and "Szív Utca" and the title track's cinematic romanticism, it's all of the bells and all of the whistles - further positioning Kornél Kovács as one of the most characteristic producers of modern house music. The record was completed in an intense two-week session with Kovács' great friend and great studio engineer Matt Karmil in the cold winter of 2016. Another close friend, artist Malin Gabriella Nordin, has created the album artwork together with her brother Jonas.

Kornél Kovács, one third of influential Stockholm label Studio Barnhus alongside Petter Nordkvist and Axel Boman, delivers his debut EP following his 2014 12" single Szikra (BARN 022EP), which appeared on many a year-end list. Opening with the hyper-edited vocals and rolling percussion of "Nordic Rave 4," shrouded in frosty atmospherics and rudebwoy soundbites, the Nincs EP continues with the smooth yet off-kilter IDM track "Utopia, Ohio," before the grandiose pads and descending bassline of the imposing and dizzying "Tooth." "So So Solid" is a beatless loopfest akin to The Field or Gas. Created with studio wizard Matt Karmil.

2018 repress. Szikra is Kornél Kovács at his most wistfully nostalgic. Ultra-smooth keys offset by noisy lo-fi breakbeats and vocals, urging you to git fucked up. Off-kilter playfulness is paired with the cocky swagger of a south Stockholm roughneck and an infectious pop sensibility that lingers in your head long after the needle hits the inner groove. The so-called "Bónusz Beat" is actually a track in its own right, sacrificing most of the hook and the vocals for a dubby smackdown ripe for adventurous dancefloors. Abdulla Rashim closes out the set with a perfectly horizontal techno groove, using only elements from the original production.
