SOUVENIR 060EP
Kenny Leaven's new EP for Souvenir keeps in line with his unique, interstellar sound; two quirky, eccentric cosmic cuts which stand unparalleled by other producers right now. Both tracks on the single recall something of the Balearic euphoria of Todd Terje's recent output as well as making humble references to the pumping analog bass of Italo and more rigid early '80s electronic explorations. Step on board and prepare yourself for an interplanetary, cosmic journey through music history, expertly examined through a modern lens.

TRAUM 076EP
Kenny Leaven is based in Erfurt, Germany, and this is his debut release for Traum. Leaven was raised on a diet of new wave and Depeche Mode, and his sound is most comparable to that of Dominik Eulberg's. His sound is less fractured than most of the sound from Germany -- instead, it is as fat it can be: elegant and modern, hypnotic and challenging. "Feeling Spicy" starts with hammering beats and rough sequences, then suddenly breaks down and dives into a sweet melody which makes its way back into the strong hypnotic groove. "Feed Me Better" is for the later hours of the party -- a funky groove with darkish haunted sounds that fly in and out of the mix.
