TRESOR 305EP
|
Paris based artist Marcelus has continuously provided some of the most intricate productions to come out on Tresor Records in recent years. The Magnet EP offers one long trip in four chapters. The title track, "Magnet", ushers in the ritual and strikes with its Creole flavors, drawing careful listeners back to sound palettes and rhythms of some decisive UR references. "Parenthesis" is the second slow step in this brooding ceremony. "Say It Again" picks up the pace, driving the listener further down into the tunnel. The beads of "Descent" finally brings the mind back to the surface of reality.

Unshakable integrity, adamant dedication and multi-faceted creativity are all characteristics that define the personality of French electronic artist Marcelus. Following an already fluent relationship with music and a string of single releases on Tresor Records, Marcelus - given name Cedric Bros - thought it would be the opportune moment to dive into his most intimate inspirations and produce Vibrations, his debut album. This full length project naturally comes at a pivotal moment for Marcelus, his experiences and knowledge coming together to create a homogenous body of work reflective of his expertise as a musician so far. Vibrations is purposefully techno oriented. It is a personal journey through his proficiency in the genre, travelling from techno to house-inspired dub-techno to futuristic and experimental. To calculate the dark, nonetheless melancholic energy of the record, mathematical datum of Pi and Phi were deliberately measured into some parts of the composition of each track. The result is an ever-evolving web of rhythms that redefines pre-established structures. Through its rich sonic journey Vibrations proves, from sides A to F, that Marcelus is undoubtedly one of today's most interesting and dexterous producer in the genre.

TRESOR 269EP
|
Marcelus returns to Tresor Records with Shine, the third EP on the Berlin powerhouse. Following the shiny and warm Emerald EP, Marcelus presents here a diverse EP reviewing the many facets of the extra-talented Parisian producer. While the A-side is adamantly tough and aimed to be used and abused in the vault during the most feverish and damp hours, Marcelus offers two delicate and very personal numbers on the B-side. A complex and rich 12" to be discovered in very different listening atmospheres.

TRESOR 261EP
|
After 2012's dystopic debut, Super Strength EP, rising Parisian Cédric Bros aka Marcelus returns to Tresor with something a little more deep and shiny in Emerald. Once again Marcelus conjures up the spirits of Detroit and Berlin techno, moulding them here into dreamy modern house incantations. "Emerald" is no different, but instead of tough and rushing euphoria, he delivers something altogether warm and frothy, revealing yet another side to this prismatic producer, as well as adding a lighter node to the Tresor catalog.

TRESOR 251EP

Paris-based Marcelus aka Cédric Bros' brand of tough, euphoric techno has found a true home on Tresor Records in both calling up the tropes of its back catalog, while remaining thoroughly in tune with today's darker dancehalls. "Super Strength" is a tone-setting chug through the swirling vistas of some '90s-imagined future. "Falcon" continues the retroactive theme with detuned chimes, and "Radical Groove" is the EP's feverish peak -- a manic, headless workout before pealing into blissed out reprieve with "Suspension."
