NACHT 004EP

Fresh off the critically acclaimed Capichone EP on Peach Discs, Nachtbraker takes you on a blazing journey. The tight drum patterns, vigorous and heartwarming pads, bolstered with his signature bass lines, will have you reminiscing on '90s Dutch house music. In the driver's seat, anthemic title track "Dondoni" gears up with a vivacious synth pad and galvanic bass line whilst, in the passenger seat, "Barkuchi Fus" goes full throttle on multi-layered melodies and pads. In the back seat you find the original mix of "Don't Worry" with a cleverly alternating arrangement and intricate sound design. Rounding out the package, you'll find Treviso (IT) based Slow Life affiliate Paolo Mosca flips "Don't Worry" into an epic feast of arpeggios and melodies on some nifty and steadfast drum work.

QSRMX 001EP

One year after its release, Quartet Series presents the remix EP of Nachtbraker's successful debut album, When You Find a Stranger in the Alps (QSCD 001CD/QSLP 001LP). A collection of remixes by some serious talent. These three producers were carefully selected by Nachtbraker because of their impeccable reputation and ability to bring something unique to the world of music. Humble Danish maestro Central (Help, Dekmantel) flips "Flambo" into a Jori Hulkkonen'esque summer anthem with a highly addictive bassline. Preacher of wonkiness Frits Wentink (Wolf, Heist, Bobby Donny) took "LOL" and brought it some serious keys on a solid breakbeat while maintaining its jolly character. Flipping the record, Nachtbraker offers the evolution of "Just Doing My Thang" turning it into a quirky dancefloor tune whilst also showcasing his ear for detail. Up-and-coming talent Nemo Vachez (Forest Ill, Opia Records, Rakya) dives deep into "Horsepony" as if he's cruising the depths of a rainforest in a submarine. His surreal dub mix is the perfect final track of this fine piece of wax.

2x12" version. comes on 140 gram vinyl. Includes download code. After a string of acclaimed EPs on Heist, Dirt Crew and Quartet Series, Amsterdam's Nachtbraker presents When You Find A Stranger In The Alps, his first long-player on his own Quartet Series imprint. The good-humored Dutchman, tongue always firmly in cheek, has always refused to stick to the "sound du jour" and the industry's conventions, following his own path instead, continually willing to step out of his comfort zone. When You Find A Stranger In The Alps, a nod to his favorite Coen Brothers movie, is testament to Nachtbraker's studio prowess and drive to explore new sonic pastures and styles. The album consists of thirteen tracks, made over the course of two-and-a-half years in his studio. Constantly shifting through different settings and moods, the album feels like a deep dream, with vivid details, blurry edges and a warped sense of time. The word "stranger" in the title references the dream state in which one can sometimes be a stranger to oneself. Opener "The Dream Sequence" sets the mood with a lo-slung hip-house groove that relies on field recordings, like the sound of one of the capital's trams. "Flambo", a delectable slice of up-tempo French-filtered house, is aimed straight at the dance floor. Nachtbraker dims the lights on "NSFW", cleverly manipulating samples from adult-oriented flicks, and turns in a hilarious skit with "LOL". "Randy", a quintessential Nachtbraker track, morphs from a Balearic, tropical disco shuffler to a dance floor banger. "Driving Me Lazy" starts out as a down-tempo number but changes into a full-on drum-n-bass workout. The driving "You Can't Run" features drunken chords over a sober beat, conjuring up visions of running circles in a dark maze. "Just Doing My Thang" rides a classic broken beat, while Nachtbraker pushes the boundaries again on "Innaspace", which starts out as an instrumental hip-hop track yet finishes on a jungle tip. "Aliens" is a choppy, heads-down groover with cheeky UFO-geek samples that wouldn't be out of place on a mid-90's West Coast deep house compilation. "Horsepony" finds Nachtbraker on a sultry Nightmares On Wax tip. Finally, it ends with where it all started, the moment "When You Wake Up". The album was recorded and mixed at Nachtbraker's studio in the Amsterdam Volkshotel. All 13 tracks are run through 2" tape on a Studer A800 and are mastered at Q-lab in Basel, Switzerland.

QST 002EP

Label boss Nachtbraker makes his solo debut on Quartet Series with his most club-orientated record to date. Taking over the full A side is the titled track "Small Towel People". An uplifting bass line accompanied by heated 909 percussion and a hypnotic thriving arp seal the deal. "Kippendijen" is a heavyweight in the house category, with some glimpses of early days jacking house and a little French touch on the filter. "Zomaar" kicks off with an energetic MPC style breakbeat before morphing into a deep jam of lush chords and a thrusting 4x4 beat.

HEIST 027EP

Nachtbraker pressed record, San Proper got his inner Mick Jagger on, and behold: "Misses, Madame, Mademoiselle", an up-tempo disco groove with Nachtbraker's touch of loose arrangement, and San Proper's amazing vocals. Producer duo Session Victim re-interpreted it, giving it a great dreamy-but-groovy twist, adding pads and shuffling hi-hats. "Hamdi" is Nachtbraker's most euphoric track to date. With chopped vocals and a teasing build-up, the track breaks down into a lovely chant, adding energy with every bar. The alternate version is an excursion into 808 booty territory, using different chops, alienating loops, and yes, even a siren.

DIRT 101EP
|
Amsterdam deep house juggernaut Nachtbraker presents Really Ties The Room Together EP. The title track twists and turns over an unconventional but irresistible groove. Shimmying shakers, brass stabs and a serpentine riff work together, creating a super tight dancefloor cut. "Rew" begins somewhere in deeper territory - a rumbling bass rolls in from over the horizon before a funk guitar blows the whole thing wide open, letting that familiar Nachtbraker good time energy shine in. The rerub of "Rew" is something altogether new from Nachtbraker, a break beat and casual groove guide gently towards an ever intensifying acid trip.

Maurits Verwoerd, aka Nachtbraker presents Pollo Con Pollo EP. "Gotta Act To React" drives on a saturated bassline, a hypnotizing guitar lick, loose hi-hats and hard-to-place filtered hits. "Pollo Con Pollo" is potentially Maurits' most clear attempt at a straight-forward groove, with a lovely dreamy guitar loop running throughout the track. There are two versions of "Intermezz(l)ow" on the B-side, the one being a lovely textured interlude and the other a rough drum workout built around the same theme. Maurits remixes himself, with a great dubbed out acid-tinged flip of "Gotta Act To React".

180-gram vinyl. Nachtbraker returns to Heist following his 2014 Gute Laune EP (HEIST 004EP) with another set of his dreamy, laid-back sound filled with lovely textures, rolling synths, and always interesting and evolving arrangements. Whether it's "Dark Roast" (bonus points for the vocal, hi-hats, and that bassline), the haunting electronics that meet sugar-sweets pads on "Gurl," the marching-band-triplet hi-hats on "Le Troubadour," or the insane collection of elements working together on "You're Out of Your Element," it's all equally deep, energetic, and extremely well-crafted.

DIRT 082EP
|
Amsterdam-based house head Nachtbraker presents one for Dirt Crew. The opening track "Alright" has this great piano hook that progresses though the whole track and gives us that sweet old school house feeling, absolutely funky as hell and a standout track. "Braun" takes us to rougher and more bouncing hip-hop like beats with spaced-out sounds and great Detroit-ish chord progressions. The title track is slow and funky with a tasty bass line that gets you moving like crazy. "Warme Kachel" gets you in the right mood for some heated party action.

Nachtbraker explores the darker shades of deep house with a serious chunk of funk. "Gute Laune" starts off modest with basic percussion and a nice bended pad, but when the bass line comes in, every element in the track makes your head bop. "Bluebottle" keeps a lower pace with a crunchy pad and mysterious synth setting the tone. Xantippe jumps into a raw burner after the break with a haunting, buzzy loop. 180 gram vinyl.
