A ragbag delight of boogie, disco, funk and jazz, collaborators on Moving With the Shakers include Harlem soul legend Leroy Burgess, Diane Charlemagne (who sang on Goldie's Inner City Life) and Chaka Khan's sister Taka Boom. Fulltime front-man Pete Simpson is also known for lending his vocal talents to the Unabombers' alias, The Elektrons. Says band founder Dave Lee: "On this third album, I wanted to say something in the songs and avoid the banal lyrics that plague so much dance music." "Journey Intro" opens with live strings and luscious vocals, setting the scene for the 17 track opus. "Our Lives Are Shaped" is a nod towards the East London 2 step soul, sound-system days. Next up is a slinky rework of David Bowie's "Fashion." "Sitting on Top of the World" harks back to the uplifting disco of Earth, Wind And Fire with a message to keep your ego in check, while the stomping "Days Gone By" remembers the innocence of youth.

The first Sunburst Band originally got together in 1998 when they released their first album, the funk-flecked Here Comes the Sunburst Band to widespread critical acclaim. The Face hailed the album as "too infectiously happy to resist" and praised a musical "authenticity which should keep even the purists on the dancefloor." However, band leader Dave Lee's blooming career as one of the UK's most successful electronic producers ignited and diverted him off in many other chart-bound directions, scoring hits not only for himself but also for artists as diverse as Lionel Richie and Mariah Carey with his remix work. Amid a dance music scene which had people returning to straightforward soul or rock and shying away from the worst minimalist excesses of club music, The Sunburst Band returned in 2004 with their second album to provide the UK with the post-dance soundtrack they had all been waiting for. Until The End of Time promotes all the funkier genres ranging from '80s boogie, disco, jazz fusion, go-go as well as some lurvely downtempo tunes. As you'd expect from a band used to working only with the best and wearing their solid funk stripes with pride, the toweringly Afro'd frontman Pete Simpson is joined on the album by the original Chic gals Norma Jean and Lucy Martin, among others.

This double CD collects the best remixes of songs from the previous 3 albums (many of which were vinyl only) by the likes of Dennis Ferrer, Henrik Schwarz, Milton Jackson, IG Culture, Yam Who, Grant Nelson, Simon Grey, Audiowhores, Electrons, Idjut Boys, and Joey Negro himself -- as well as adding brand new reworks from Cool Million, Recloose, Kaje Trackheads, DJ Meme, Domu and The Revenge that are exclusive to the package. Whereas the band's sound is generally very organic, with live instrumentation aplenty, these remixes are more electronic and synthesized -- ranging from deep, techy, broken beat, to straight-up disco house and downtempo boogie.
