TEC 091EP
|
The mysterious Nurve follows his 2014 debut (TEC 079EP) with four crunching darkside cuts, conjuring the spirits of Ed Rush & Optical circa the late '90s. The EP opens with "Pyromaniac," a mesmerizing, bewitching, entrancing, delirious homage to the beauty of fire. "Brain Sugar," a collaboration with Caski, takes the mood deeper with mystical vibes and meticulous tech-heavy programming. The dancefloor-focused "Cabana" hits hard while holding true to the palette of the EP as a whole. Closer "Drugs Don't Work" takes a disintegrating trajectory over a broken rhythm.

Tectonic is proud to host the debut release from this new and exciting producer, Nurve, who brings a dark, well constructed sonic to the ever mutating and fast changing sounds of bass-driven UK techno. The lead track on the EP, "Wrong Number", was included on the much acclaimed Pinch B2B Mumdance mix CD ? one of the only producers to feature on the mix besides Pinch and Mumdance. The beat charges up with a rhythmical siren, building the energy before rolling tribal drums kick in, blurry paranoid vocal cuts smudge into a sudden and pounding bass heavy drop! Darkside techno of the finest order! Flip then for the first of two excellent cuts, that stay true to the darkside themes of 'Wrong Number' - but tear apart the rhythms for a more broken take on the techno landscape. 'Clik Clak' mutates a fusion of grime, tech-step and techno to produce a unique rhythmical monster! Along with 'Spasm' these two tracks cut new ground entirely, showcasing the first offering from a new and exciting producer experimenting in the cutting edge of the darkside hardcore continuum.
