From Toni Rios time during the mid-nineties at the legendary Frankfurt club Omen, he grew up quickly at an early age being one of the most in demand DJ's around the globe. Now it's fall 2009 and he's taken the time to reflect on the past two decades spent DJing and producing. With his new full length Past & Present, Toni Rios seizes these years of experience and has successfully found a way to reflect his experiences, influences and moments in this momentous full length. Take the tune 'Can See Your Smile' with it's American tinged house flavor that rolls out in the most charming of ways. 'Ocean Drive' spurs the glory of yesterday's techno sound recalling the best moments of the great G-Man (ex-LFO). The soul of Ron Trent swings unconsciously in the midst of 'White Emotions' while Rios dives into his Spanish roots with the insatiable track 'Incapaz de Parar.' Toni Rios is not from Cologne. He lives in Frankfurt and he's from a Spanish provenance, which is audible in his music. Frankfurt's thump meets Iberian grooviness. Toni Rios is resident DJ at Sven Väth's Cocoon Club. Apart from that, his DJ skills and kindliness are acknowledged worldwide. Toni's tracks fit perfectly on Kompakt Extra because they're quite kicking at the bottom end. And they're exciting in the high range, too. If you put bottom end and high range together, you'll get something very complete and captivating. Strong, beautifully crafted techno for 2007.
