Finally returning to the production fold with his first full-length album in thirteen years, Will Saul's Open Too Close is a condensed trip through the influences, discovery and sense of history that have helped shape his career and drive a forward-facing, unblinking passion for new music. Open Too Close draws on the timeless futurism at the heart of the music that drew Saul into electronic music culture. Simply put, futuristic, melancholic sci-fi soundscapes meets stripped-back, raw sample-driven house music, all executed with the precision and panache of an artist who truly understands how to move a dancefloor.

Bugs is Aus Music label owner Will Saul's first solo EP since 2014 and follows his inaugural release on new Aus Music compilation series, Inside Out. Here's Will: "'Bugs' is inspired as much by dancing at Plastic People/Co-Op to the Bugz In The Attic as is it is by Carl Craig's Innerzone Orchestra track 'Bugs In The Bass Bin'. Hopefully I bring my own twist to these key influences... 'The Map Room' tumbles with big, swinging drums as a fervid sense of tension burns throughout before Matt Karmill takes 'Bugs' off on a linear dubbed-out excursion..."

This 12" sees Aus label-head Will Saul venture back to the dancefloor. The high-octane "Pedal Power," which also features in his DJ-Kicks mix, and the weighty but spacious "Valhalla" were born out of a number of live jams on a small outboard setup with a laptop used only to record. A Jomox Xbase 999 drum machine triggering a Moog Minitaur for bass, all running through a number of highly tweak-able pedals and outboard fx units with a Roland Juno for pads. It was a refreshing low maintenance change for Will and there will be a few more 12"s of this ilk released soon.

SIMPLE 726EP

"To accompany the CD release of Simple Sounds, Will Saul presents the first of 3 exclusive and remix 12"s. On this EP is Will's exclusive new track '3000 AD' and Wahoo remixes one of Will's most beautiful tracks from the Simple back catalog. On '3000 AD' lush, inviting pads drift around the stereo pallet before clicks and bleeps introduce the undulating rhythm of the track. As the resonance of the bass line is opened out to a pulsating crescendo, the haunting atmospherics build in intensity. Introspective chords chime around the warped robot voices, creating the soulful yet deeply futuristic sound that characterize Will's productions. For the Wahoo remix of 'Mbira' who better to choose than the head of Will's favorite label (Innervisions) for the remix of one of Will's best known tracks. Dixon keeps the melodies of the original and lends a live and driving percussive feel that his label has become renowned for. His epic arrangement causes maximum dancefloor devastation as first strings then stabs are introduced to push the track to its climax. Wahoo is the Berlin-based duo of Georg Levin & Dixon. They have just released their album Take It Personal on Fine Records. Together they have been busy putting the soul back into house music sin."

Will Saul from the UK is the man and owner behind the successful electronica imprint Simple Recordings. His last singles Animal Magic and his Ursula Rucker collaboration Where Is It? are still in the cases of lots of trendsetting jocks. Now Will's musical targets lead to the Systematic family and he has produced two deep, groovy and outstanding trax named "Jen" and "Maximal." "Jen" was already played a couple of times by Pete Tong on his BBC Radio 1 show, and this vinyl release includes an additional Phonique remix.
