"Hailing from Dublin, Ireland, this debut 12" from Rory St. John is the result of tireless dedication to his craft, in developing a production style that is uniquely his own. Referencing various areas of dancefloor techno, Rory opens with the infectious weird funk of 'Order of the Solar Temple' -- featuring a tension-filled breakdown that could well be one of the finest moments of techno in 2008! 'Morin Equinox' retains the funk, with multiple buzzing synths and ongoing edits that enter all sorts of nooks and crannies; topped off by lamenting keys that steer it into even more absorbing territory. 'Sirius' is an industrial motored groove; containing spooky vocals and gusts of ferocious white noise that make way for a simple but extremely effective piano line, which again makes for another perfectly nailed offering. 'Sphereix' is an ode to Bratislava's Sub Club, where Rory recently set alight with his live set. Stuttering drum rhythms and rising atmospherics pave the way for a menacing lead synth that moves like a wasp and stings like a wasp... owwww! An action-packed EP from this exciting new artist, full of many bizarre ideas and winning grooves."
