DBIRD 024EP

Style Of Eye returns with three more monster club tracks. These are the kind of jams that simply work at the club. They aren't hard to mix, and they aren't hard to understand. They are big Dirtybird tracks that simply never fail the dancefloor.

This is the first full-length release by Linus Eklöw aka Style Of Eye, who has been described as the new sultan of Scando techno. He is no stranger to today's underground dance scene: he started out working in the studio in the late '90s and began to develop his unique style of music with releases and remixes on such prolific labels as Classic, Tiny Sticks, and Rabid Records -- to name just a few -- and most recently on Dirtybird and John Dahlbäck's Pickadoll label, where he's now putting out his debut, aptly named Duck, Cover And Hold. His understanding of electronic music goes far beyond stereotypical thinking, as you can tell from going through the list of different labels he has released on. And this is the exact vibe that makes this record what it is: a very personal, outstanding and diverse interpretation of contemporary techno and house music. Linus melts down electric bleeps, hysterical synthesizers, raw percussion, minimalism, big-mouthed basses and soulful chords in order to create this club-destroying monster album. Crystal clear trance moments alternate with deep house grooves and pumped-up peak-time parts, while always keeping an ironic distance with silly melodies and sounds. Linus' style is also marked by a high level of professionalism -- just take the EQing of his sounds, the super-accurate use of SFX in his tracks or the perfectly-timed and ultra-tight arrangements as examples, and you will know how much dedication and work he puts into his art. This shit is meticulous, highly advanced, and absolutely chock-full of addictive noises you can't resist dancing to. Style Of Eye is one to watch, as he is about to blow up in a very major way. Including guest vocals by Emma Henley and Stephen Simmonds.

Swedish companion Linus Eklöw aka Style Of Eye, drops Pickadoll #27 and lord, does he drop an H-Bomb. Heavy pounding and floor-cleaning kicks in a chunky rhythm -- in best UK manner -- with quirky efx and vocal cuts by Freeda make this pure club madness. John Dahlbäck takes it to the typical Pickadoll grounds by adding sawtooth basses and some filter activity with amazing results. "Hysster" is another technical adventure -- staccato bleeps and synthy noises on a stripped-down rhythm move into a classy rave hookline that takes the roof off.
