3000GRAD 018EP
|
Be Svendsen snatched the audio tracks from four virtuous sound acrobats and juggles them in the free space between streamlined house, classic fairground buzz, and silent film music. Be Svendsen straps the swaying piano chords of Acid Pauli's "Requiem for a Loop" to a swinging bass line and performs wild caprioles. His remix of "Schlaraffenland" by the Electronic Swing Orchestra combines the track's rich composition with catchy beat structures. The most hypnotic title on this EP is created together with Monolink -- a wonderfully dreamy remix of "Modulation Transfer Function." Lastly, The Segment's "The One" is turned into a shuffling groove monster.

3000GRAD 013EP

Danish producer Be Svendsen's stylistic open-mindedness is perfect for open air scenarios. Based on a minimal groove, "Let Them Not Weep" whirls around tunes and melody samples until eventually a kaleidoscopic pattern shapes around the swinging voice of a female singer. Mollono.Bass provides a remix. On the flipside, Svendsen presents a remix of his summer hit "Solo Para Mi." Finally, the wild instrumentation and tipsy beat structures of "Spiritualized" make it the most experimental title on this record.

Summer is here. It smells like charcoal, grass and sunscreen. It tastes like strawberry ice cream and cold beer. It sounds like this record, on which the Danish Lasse Bruhn Svendsen set pure open air euphoria to music. With "On the Hill" he stacks up layers of juicy synth-arpeggios and cooks them in a groove-stock until they reach their atmospheric boiling point. "The Elephant Cage" is very epic and takes a humorous turn. Finally, Mollono.Bass serves up refreshing versions of both tracks.

ACKER 023.2EP

Featuring deep atmospheres and altogether slightly more electronic rhythms, the second part of Be Svendsen's Catchpenny & Cosmos series features an even greater variety of sound. Just like its name implies, the "Black Tower Hotel" is a wondrous and mysterious place. In his remix, Mollono.Bass delivers a rolling groove. "Jäger" gains experience with acid, minimalism and enigmatic wind instrument sounds. Last but not least, there is "Morgania," a laid-back song that does not aim the dancefloor.

Be Svendsen creates crunchy beats and bouncy basses -- no doubt, this is electronic dance music. "Solo Para Mi" is based on a functional yet driving groove, progressively escalating to ever new atmospheric peaks. Mollono.Bass takes up the summery-warm tone colors of the original in his remix but keeps it a little more dreamy and subliminal, while Eule:nhaupt & Molle:nhauer emphasize the song-oriented aspects. "Bulgarian Chicks" is strongly electronic, but there are also unconventional gypsy instrumental and vocal entries.
