REMOTE 036EP
|
Remote Area presents two tracks from Ramon Tapia. "Day One" is high-octane madness made all the more crazy with cheeky audio strips and manic laughter. Enjoy the depth of the groove and the mayhem. "Oktober" is not for the faint-hearted. Raw and relentless beats drive you out of your comfort zone over to the eerie and edgy. Then, just when your hands shoot up in the air and you're screaming for breath, it plunges you back down, just like a techno roller coaster.

FLASH 012EP
|
"After some very strong releases by Daso, Lützenkirchen and Kellerkind, Flash Recordings -- the label run collectively by Oliver Koletzki and Florian Meindl -- comes back with a subtle, but very effective bang. Introducing Ramon Tapia, who has already released on Yellow Tail, Definitive Recordings, Craft and Great Stuff to name just a few, joins the Flash crew and really makes a great first impression. Two dope cuts and one killer remix are in this package, but let's put things in order first. Ramon Tapia, son of a Chilean musician and a Dutch woman, comes from Antwerp and is equally a master of perfect intrinsic productions as well as big emotional musical dramas. The main track of this EP is 'Away,' which seems to tell the tale of Tapia's extensive musical history: some reverby percussions, a shimmering synthie, some simply beautiful big-room sweeping dubs and a great vocal. Add some hi-hats and some great creative twists that make this track oscillate between techno and house as well as a good touch of heartbreaking pop music, too. In one word: it's a hit. On the flip there is a remix by the Berlin-based production duo Chopstick & Johnjon, both real lovers of house music, too. They turn the original into a flurry tech-house ride that smoothly pushes with a constant drive towards oblivion."

"Ramon Tapia is definitely one of the hottest new talents in Europe. With only a handful of releases and remixes on labels like Turbo, Craft Music, CR2, Yellow Tail, Blu Fin (also under his side project El Carlitto) his DJ and production career kickstarted from zero to none. The steady support by the likes of Richie Hawtin, Laurent Garnier, Jimpster, Peter Kruder, Gus Gus, Luke Solomon and Martin Eyerer helped him get confidence in the stylistic path of his choice. This mini album Mini Jack will be the next big highlight for the Belgian producer from Antwerp, son of a Chilean political refugee and a Dutch mother. Like in his earlier profession as an official goldsmith, his soundscapes are pure, machine-made jewelry, all perfectly polished for the dancefloor."
