Cobblestone Jazz founding member Danuel Tate is back on the solo tip with the Doesn't Like You Back EP, and this time, he's bringing it harder. Although some familiar elements from his first EP can be found in the horns and synths that form the beds for the quirky vocoder, this release is more direct. This 12" reflects the moment on the dancefloor when you realize the woman next to you is way out of your league.

"The extraordinary jazz pianist Danuel Tate is more commonly known as the keyboardist behind the music of Cobblestone Jazz, exemplifying their free and improvised approach to the creative process. This, his first virtuoso release on Wagon Repair, is a bold and accomplished work. His unchained melodies animating looped jazz samples, infusing modernity and new relevance to music from a period of unparalleled innovation and influence. On 'Bloss' free keys illuminate a deep bass lick as vocoded melodies glide over an old time trumpet breakdown. 'I Want My Money Back' - a tight cymbal roll resonates like rain above scatted vocoder and keys, as a looped lounge lull sets a martini mood. 'Pushcard' - wild flutes and keys soar over a racing house beat and stumbling trumpet loop. 'Slim Jim Boko' - the most experimental of the bunch, samples shuffle and interject between the simple pulse, key melodies and reverberated guitar reflections."
