Wax Love presents a reissue of Here's Larry Williams, originally released in 1959. The great New Orleans R&B singer Larry Williams may not have the same name recognition as Fats Domino, Ernie K-Doe, or Roy Brown but his hits, especially "Short Fat Fannie" and "Bony Maronie", are still universally recognizable classics. Signed to Specialty Records in 1957 after meeting Little Richard and his producer while he was recording in New Orleans, Williams struck gold with one of his earliest singles, "Short Fat Fannie", which reached #1 on the R&B chart, and #5 on the pop chart. Here's Larry Williams collects all of Williams' biggest singles on one LP along with some killer deep cuts. If one digs piano-driven R&B shouters, Here's Larry Williams is absolutely essential, a classic from one of New Orleans' greatest.

Pure rock and roll history here from one of New Orleans' finest, Larry Williams. "Slow Down" is nothing short of a total masterpiece, an eternally infectious classic which moves along like a '56 Cadillac, while "Dizzy Miss Lizzy" is equally seminal, a wild and hot mess of N'awlins piano, second-line drums, great horns, and a catchy, scratchy guitar riff.

Two sides appearing on vinyl for the first time ever from the legendary New Orleans rock & roll star, Larry Williams. "Love Charms" is a hot mid-tempo R&B cut with a popcorn feel, recorded back in the late '50s by Larry Williams for Art Rupe's Specialty label, originally written and recorded by Ray Stanley. On the flip, one of a reported 20 recorded takes of Larry Williams' attempt at Little Richard's hit "Heeby Jeebies" with Earl Palmer on drums.

"Born in New Orleans and raised in California, Larry Williams is from the hard-driving school of R&B, whose fellow classmates included Little Richard and Robert Parker. He was a good-looking, piano-pounding, singer-songwriter - a rough, rowdy Rock & Roller who wrote and recorded some of the best songs of the '50s. A seriously underrated artist, his influence reached far beyond his low chart tally. John Lennon was a big Williams fan and The Beatles covered no less than three of his prime cuts on their earlier albums. This high quality vinyl reissue is a mandatory, all killer-no filler, addition to the wild-action section of any respectable DJ's flycase."
