Woolfy Vs. Projections (aka Simon James and Dan Hastie) strike back with Destinations on Permanent Vacation. Destinations is their fourth studio album, which makes WVP the longest running artists on the label from their debut release back in 2007. Once again, Woolfy Vs. Projections make California (one of the few places where endless summer isn't just a hollow phrase) an outpost of the Balearic Islands and proof that they're truly one of the greats of the genre. Over the past decade, Simon and Dan created a prolific catalog of modern day classics with tracks like "Absynth" (described by Resident Advisor as "Air covering Steely Dan"), "Neeve", "Set Me Loose", or "Set It Up". Destinations definitely follows suits. Ten tracks that combine the classic West Coast sound, a twist of dark disco, with a deep Balearic twilight vibe. Includes download voucher.

The third and (for now) final chapter of the big book of Woolfy vs Projections (aka Simon James and Dan Hastie) completes the arc that began with The Astral Projections of Starlight (PERMVAC 030CD, 2008) and The Return of Love (PERMVAC 096CD, 2012). The California-based duo's albums are all loosely based on the adventures of the lost astronaut Captain Starlight, the eponymous hero of German duo Zazu's 1979 balearic rock classic. "Captain Starlight" is a useful reference point for the sound of Woolfy vs Projections, who deliver a deep balearic twilight vibe combined with a classic west coast sound, dubbed disco, beard rock, and a heavy funk bounce. Tracks like "Absynth" (which Resident Advisor compared to "Air covering Steely Dan"), "Neeve," or "Set Me Loose" are all modern classics. Stations perfects the duo's technique of filtering a psychedelic folk album through a modern-day disco aesthetic. Whether it's spaced-out house jams like "Combination" and "Tangiers," the idyllic vibes of "Walkaway," or "The Bright Light of the Truth," a hazy mood stretches over the album, which also includes a careful reconstruction of Odyssey's 1974 balearic classic "Who" to bring the listener into a state of bliss. Stations bring the space epic of Captain Starlight to a graceful end. Features Michaela and El Javi.

Woolfy vs. Projections present the first single from their 2012 album The Return of Love (PERMVAC 096CD/LP). "Set Me Loose" is the perfect example of W vs. P's unique, hazy blend of electronic and acoustic instrumentation. This makes it a perfect match for Swiss legend Lexx, who adds exotica, tropical drumming and dubbiness to the original. The Drifter comes correct with a hypno-house version, adding a punchy kick and an acidic bass line. El_Txef_A strips the original down to its basic elements.

Californian duo Woolfy vs. Projections has finally finished the follow-up to their 2008 album The Astral Projections of Starlight. With its blend of psychedelic West Coast rock, disco, Balearic and hints to the likes of Bryan Ferry, Wings or David Crosby, The Return of Love is a source of pure excitement. Simon James aka Woolfy emigrated from the rainy shores of the United Kingdom to sunny California around the same time the biggest beard of all disco beards, DJ Harvey, headed to the Golden State. Both share a particular passion for dirty disco 12"s from '73-'84, a bit of English punk, pub funk and booze and therefore it was only logical that the two began to cooperate in some fields: whether Harvey was playing in Woolfy's bar or Simon was helping Harvey out in the studio for some of his remixes. Then Simon met his partner in crime, Dan Hastie. The Return of Love continues the story of "Captain Starlight": the astronaut returns to earth after his odyssey in space, finding his lost love and releasing all that was. The Return of Love was conceptualized in the Californian Big Bear mountains in a log cabin, with a grip of analog keyboards, pre-amps, laptops and fine ales. Woolfy vs. Projections have recorded a modern West Coast psychedelic rock album here, with the best example being the track "Nina," a coproduction with Tensnake. This music hits you like a good peyote trip.

2008 release, new mid-line pricing. DJ Harvey buddies Simon James aka Woolfy and Dan Hastie with a fantastic album of dubbed disco and beard rock. The duo has already released an album under the moniker Projections on Guidance, and both are also part of the Cali funk band Orgone (Ubiquity). An instant classic! Packaged in a super jewel case.

2008 release. After hi s much talked-about remix for The Juan McLean, Innervisions' Marcus Worgull produces a stunning remix of Woolfy Vs. Projections' "Absynth." On the flip, The Invisible Conga People, known for their impressive debut on Italians Do It Better as well as previous remix work for Simian Mobile Disco, offer their take on "The Return Of Starlight." Both remixes make the tracks suitable for the dancefloor for maximum pleasure.
