RELEASE DATE: 8/22/2025
Having built an impressive following on the back of live performances and social media, Berlin's Moses Yoofee Trio shared their impatiently awaited debut mini-album Ocean in November 2023. Released by Nils Frahm's LEITER label, it contains five tracks and was praised by the press and audiences alike. The trio -- awarded the German Jazz Prize for Live Act of the Year in 2024 -- responded to constant demand by releasing their acclaimed debut as a limited-edition vinyl. After the first pressing sold out in no time, the three are now following up: Ocean is once again available on vinyl. The trio -- pianist/keyboardist/producer Moses Yoofee, bassist Roman Klobe-Baranga and drummer Noah Fürbringer -- has lit up Europe's clubs and venues over recent years with astonishing, almost obscenely tight live shows. Turning as much to RnB, hip hop and soul as more traditional jazz sources, the tunes on Ocean reflect the spontaneity, inspiration and instinctive refinement of their performances. The deliciously frantic title track and increasingly ecstatic "Minor Issues" stand in stark contrast to "At Ease's" restrained complexity, while "Fragile's" hypnotic rhythm betrays their love of hip-hop and the lush "Richmond" is driven by a deliciously low-strung groove before shifting up a gear for its climax. "Everybody loves fusion," the band agree, "even if they don't admit it," but that's only one element of the trio's sophisticated style, with Moses' exceptional keyboard skills illuminated by Roman's fluid bass lines and Noah's eloquent drum patterns.

2025 repress available in Sept. Following the acclaimed EP Ocean, the Moses Yoofee Trio present their debut album MYT. The Berlin-based band, who have built an exceptional reputation since their first sessions together in 2020, recently won the prestigious "Live Act of the Year" award at the German Jazz Awards. A large part of the new album was recorded over ten days in April 2024 at Glaswald Studios near Stuttgart. The trio then returned to the capital to refine the results and record two more tracks at LEITER Studio at Funkhaus Berlin. This also resulted in a feature track with London rapper ENNY, whose latest EP We Go Again was released in 2023 on the FAMM label by Brit Award winner and Grammy nominee Jorja Alice Smith. The trio -- pianist/keyboardist/producer Moses Yoofee, bassist Roman Klobe-Baranga and drummer Noah Fürbringer -- has made a name for itself in recent years, particularly with spectacular live shows in Germany and beyond. In the process, they have also attracted the attention of world-renowned musicians and producers such as Kamaal Williams, Kaidi Tatham, Navy Blue, and Gilles Peterson. Characterized by R&B, hip-hop, and soul as well as more traditional jazz, MYT's songs reflect the spontaneity, inspiration and instinctive sophistication of their live performances. The first taster, single "WHIP.wav," perfectly encapsulates the band's unique style: the laid-back grooves are illuminated by Moses' flowing piano lines, while drummer Noah Fürbringer's tight rhythms harmonize perfectly with Roman Klobe-Baranga's subtle bass line. At just 100 seconds long, the track is as concise and straightforward as the album title MYT -- and many of the tracks -- which says a lot about the Moses Yoofee Trio. With a remarkable determination to distil the music down to its essence, exceptional talent and elegant versatility come together here in a clear, almost unflustered manner. Their goals, as they succinctly put it: "Emotions, moments and banger." They have certainly achieved this with the thirteen tracks on MYT.
