VALT 003EP
|
Vakant continues its VALT series with a third installment of uncompromising club tracks. Started in 2008 with Onur Özer and followed up by Tolga Fidan in 2009, Dario Zenker brings up VALT3 in 2010. Vakant's representation in the decent south of Germany locates "Belfort" as close to Detroit as its indefinable era. Was it written by little Dario in the '90s? Or maybe on a U.S. tour in Detroit itself with some helping hands? We don't know, but this is definitely timeless. One-sided release.

VA 027EP

Dario Zenker is back with his second Vakant EP. "Would Be Nice" makes more twists and turns than a sausage factory -- if you want freak, thump, space, expanse... it's all here. Fun and bouncy "Blue Champa" is perhaps more on the vegetarian tip: light, nutritious, guilt-free and leaving you a little hungry for more. "While Rain Gets Air" is one of those freaky tracks that won't let you close your eyes at night. Listeners beware.

"Munich's Dario Zenker joins Vakant after sprinkling his magic chuga chuga dust on some of the world's gourmet minimal labels. Dario's thick kink finds a natural home here in aforementioned bus bumping and bouncing all the kids wherever they need to go. A-side 'Sam und Er' goes on that first forest camp trip, giddy and exciting. It's all about the ride to the spot: happy expectations and the psych-up. Scattered claps and fun synths combine to make something uplifting with friendly mystery. Definitely forest rave." Last copies of this now deleted version.

NUM 015EP
|
"Clear as crystal, the man of the moment, Dario Zenker is finally giving us a follow up of his brilliant former Num Records release. The Munich techno machinery strikes here again with a smashing deep and incredibly organic record. As always with the youngster, the music presented here is of the most intelligent and future-minded kind. Playing along with cymbals, manufactures sounding aliens at work behind the ever knocking and dance-reminding kick drum. With its former release on Num Records hammered out loud by Mr. Richie Hawtin, we bet this one will be played even stronger. Sick breaks, sparkling arrangements and production skills from beyond everything known to date, Dario represent its own deserved part of contemporary techno music, the Dario style... three marvelous tracks are present on the EP, three floor bombs for sure. And it sounds massive while at another end, clearly includes the entire Dario's talent at rendering living and magical pieces of music...This EP just overcomes everything. Stay true to your style and get it recognized!"

NUM 008EP

"Practically entitled resident at his Munich hometown's mythical Ultraschall club just as he was old enough to be allowed inside, 'super-Dario' remains at the controls of Munich's top clubs and is now producing fine music on a variety of underground labels. His Make Up EP released on Num Records is a subtle techno 4-tracker with a particularly deep sense of space and atmosphere, it's sharp beats bathed in warm, spooky, mental sounds. Disc opener 'Felder' layers wild percussions and drops bubbling mystery sounds that give the track a haunted and suspense-heavy vibe, while the apparently plain Chicago house grooves of a track like 'Fruitlup' can lead to some truly alien breakdowns. Using the highest frequencies without ever disturbing your ear, 'Konstress' is a complex yet funky number with classic hi-hat action. Miles from the overexcited banging one could expect from a young new artist, it's scary good."
