Debut EP by Paul Von Aphid's band Zex Model is now properly re-released on 12'' wax by Desire. Originally released as a digital download only, First Mutation has been remastered, has new artwork and two bonus tracks taken from early live rehearsals. Much rawer than the full-length follow-up Mind Slaughter (DESIRE 092LP), Aphid captures the alienation of early Skinny Puppy circa their 1983-1985 period with the weird rockin' sound of the first Revolting Cocks album plus a good dose of the most aggressive Wiseblood tracks and Ministry's Twitch. Composed, recorded and mixed by the artist, who was incredibly wasted at the time, the sound might be a bit naïve, but it's very authentic and could have been released in 1985 or 1986. 300 copies on solid red vinyl. 350 gram sleeve with an insert. Includes a download card.
