"This compilation tries to capture the diverse sound of Berlin. From the erratic flow of minimal hero Ricardo Villalobos to the deep bassy house sound of Cassy. From Sleeparchive's Säkhö continuations to Soundstream's wild disco cut-ups. From Luciano's Latin-tinged minimalism to Henrik Schwarz' dubby deep house and techno cuts. From Berlin's new minimal darling Matt John to the analog mayhem of Diamonds and Pearls' own EAT. Traditionally, Berlin has always been the place where you get lost in a haze of endless parties, from the coke and Charleston-infected heydays of the early '20s, to the speed paranoia and atonal sounds of the early '80s when West Berlin was still 'Frontstadt' and people like David Bowie and Iggy Pop roamed the streets and clubs. The club scene has been vibrant since day one, but for a long time there weren't that many labels and producers that took the frenzy of the city out into the world. Untill the late '90s, that is. From then on, Berlin established itself as a focal point in the world of electronic music. And with its liberal policies and cheap costs of living, it became one of the most alluring cities for producers, artists and DJs from around the world. From Berlin's soon-to-be-legendary Clubs like Berghain, to the ecstatic insomnia of afterhour-bars like Bar 25 or Club der Visionäre, the energy of the city is in constant flow. And with every arrival of another artist, another DJ or another producer, a new flavour is added to the mix of excitement, creativity and pleasure."
