Freak n'Chic label-head Dan Ghenacia presents Eyelights, a deep, dance-focused insight into Ghenacia's musical world of today, yesterday and with exclusive tracks for the future. Ghenacia himself stresses that "the overall style of the mix is deep house; deep, groovy and hypnotic, but in a modern way." Since 1995, after returning from San Francisco with a bag of vinyl, Dan Ghenacia has been educating the Parisian underground with his take on house music. Via Ghenacia's Kwality Sunday morning afterparty residency at Le Batofar, from 1998-2002, where he met his Freak n'Chic label mates Shonky, Dyed Soundorom and Terry, he brought a different, deeper sound to the dancefloor and inspired the sound now known as Freak n'Chic. The closely-knit label has introduced and nurtured some of dance music's most uprising talents: Shonky's debut album Time Zero aims directly at the dancefloor and caused a major dent in hypnotic techno circles, Jamie Jones released his first-ever EP Amazon on Freak n'Chic, Dyed Soundorom released his debut Question EP to a very receptive audience, earning himself more than a few "one to watch" accolades in the process, as well as, of course, Dan Ghenacia himself, who on his own releases and through his collaboration with David K. as U&I, has delivered the true Freak n'Chic sound to our ears. This is a look into the personal record selection of the man behind the label, highlighting artists he works with and loves to play. Other artists include: Opium, Dop, Seth Troxler & Patrick Russell, Skat, Nôze , Floppy Sounds, James Mowbray & D. Ramirez, Basic Unit, Daniel Stefanik, Gary Beck, Johnny D, Mathias Kaden, Jus-ed, Andomat 3000, Studio B, and Chris Carrier.
