Ellen Allien mixes and curates the fifth volume in Watergate Records' series of mixes dedicated to the sounds of the Watergate Club in Berlin. Situated by the river Spree, and known for its first-rate line-ups of international talent and, of course, its famous wall-to-wall LED dancefloor installation, the Watergate Club has quickly become one of the world's leading dance music clubs. The Watergate series delivers only the finest DJ mixes by some of club's most exciting residents and guests. With the focus not only on the music, but also on the packaging and design, this series will quickly become a truly sought-after collector's item. After successfully exploring the world of deep house with the last Watergate mix by Sebo K, it's now time for Ellen Allien to represent for Watergate. Ellen has been a resident of the club for a few years now, and her BPitch label nights with the whole label roster as well as her solo appearances at Watergate have always been special nights. Ellen Allien has been a part of the Berlin techno scene since its very early days, starting as a DJ in West-Berlin's famous Fischlabor in the late-'80s. She quickly moved on to bigger clubs, playing legendary places such as Berlin's Bunker, Tresor and E-Werk, not to forget her weekly radioshow "Braincandy" on Kiss FM. Throughout the years, Ellen developed the idea of BPitch Control, her now flourishing record-label which stands for her very own brand of Berlin-sound, showcasing the talents of artists born and raised in the city. Also, Ellen herself got more and more into production which led to the release of her phenomenal albums, including hits such as Berlinette (BPC 065CD/LP), Stadtkind (BPC 021CD/LP) or Sool (BPC 175CD/LP). Nowadays, Ellen can proudly look back on 200 releases on the label including more than 50 of her own. In 2010, Ellen Allien remains one of the most influential artists of the scene, who still holds residencies all over the world, including the birthplace of this mix series and her Berlin homebase, Club Watergate. Artists include: DJ Yellow, John Tejada, Lump, Luciano, Niconé & Sascha Braemer, Phillip Bader, Audiophungz, Aerea Negrot, Dark Unknown, Juno 6, Matias Aguayo, Alexi Delano, Röyksopp, Apparat, Uffie, AGF/Delay, Heartthrob, Margaret Dygas, nsi, and Brigitte Fontaine & Khan.
